Will a shavette give a closer shave than a DE razor?

If your beard grows quickly......you would have the same problem with a DE
I think my point is.....with the correct technique you are not guaranteed to cut yourself. I apologise if I have offended you........but you did say opinions were welcome
We may be at cross purposes. The OP is fairly new, never used a shavette it appears. My advice to him was, starting with a shavette may cause him to cut himself, that a straight would in fact be easier. He will have little to no technique if he's new.
To answere your questions, I've been wet shaving for 46 years. I've utilised cartridges, various straights, shavettes, and DE razors along the journey. I apologise if we have misconstrued each others message.
Ps. I still get sandpaper after a short time, no matter the method.

Sounds like my brother I'm sure it's wire wool growing on his face

I would rather use a shave ready straight than a cheap half DE saloon blade shavette.
A Feather AC or Clone straight razor is a compromise if the maintenance does not appeal to you. The Chinese clones are very inexpensive.

......and my apologies as well I shouldn,t speed read at night and reply without taking due care and attention!

BBS only lasts a few hours (with a DE) , then the micro-stubble starts to re-appear. I get a visually perfect looking shave for maybe 12 hours, but i can feel it long before that. If i shave with a Cart or Electric, then i get annoying stubble after 6 hours maybe.

Strangely i don't get absolute BBS at point of shave with a DE, but about 15 -30mins after shaving my skin actually feels its very smoothest, like the stubble has retracted slightly.
