Wild Rose Shaving Soaps

Try MdC rose, it's got a natural rose scent and I love it, expensive? Not really because it lasts and lasts and never seems to go down in the tub.. :) P.

Aside from MdC, there's Signature Soaps Leodis, is Rose scented (with a few other things, including Geranium) but to my nose it smells a lot like the Eyup Sabri Rose Water.

Has anyone tried these soaps and know if it is any good? I like the sound of them.

Good find! Their soap base looks an interesting one, not seen a base like theirs before.

Ingredients:

  • Sodium Soyate (Soy wax)
  • Sodium cocoate (Coconut oil)
  • Sodium castorate (Castor oil)
  • Sodium cocoabutterate (Cocoa butter)
  • Glycerin (by-product of saponification process)
  • Water (Aqua)
  • Sodium jojobate (Jojoba oil)

I'm not very knowledgeable on ingredients and what works well and what doesn't. What's your view on these?

I'm not an shaving soap alchemist, but I've grown used to seeing certain ingredients on lists and learnt some can be ones to avoid (seeing olive oil high in the list for example can lead to lathers dissipating). For this one here, I've not ever seen a soap with Soy Wax as the first ingredient.

Soy wax can be used as an alternative to stearic acid, which is often, but not always, derived from palm oil. A lot of people are now shunning palm oil products due to the de-forestation that occurs to grow the palms. Stearic acid can also be produced from rapeseed oil and that's what i use, i may give soy wax a go in the future, this is the first time I've seen it in a commercial soap.

Thanks for the reply, with some great info.

I've just bought MdC rose. The scent is the best scent I have ever had in a soap or cream. Very very natural, and not artificial or overpowering. It is the only scent that I can say what It is! Pure indeed. A true delight.
