WiFi signal booster.

Hi all.
The living room in which I have my Tv somehow seems to stifle the WiFi signal, not thick walls or anything just struggles to get a strong signal, as an aside my phone reception is also poor in this room.
it's not an issue on my iPad but I use a firestick in my Tv and hate it when it lags and just get the spinning circle.
We can't move to another room as we don't have one, it's now a kitchen diner area thingy.
I've looked at WiFi extenders but am wary as I don't know much about them.
Has anybody got one and can confirm that they work ?

Dave.

A matched pair of powerline extenders will usually do the trick.

One will plug into a mains power socket next to your internet router and be connected to it by a short cable - it then send internet via your mains wiring to the other extender, which is plugged into a mains socket in the area you want to boost your wifi.

These below are decent and the video shows how they are installed

+1 for the powerline adapters. Alternatively a mesh system like the BT one.

Oh absolutely on the Mesh system, but it depends how far you want to stretch your wallet. A pair of powerline adapters is a relatively affordable way to quickly and easily fill in a Wi-Fi dead zone.

In an ideal world, we would all have Mesh systems with structured cabling, to give full Backhaul between nodes ... but it don't come cheap.

I tried a wifi extender a while back but couldn't get it to work, disappointingly.

I then went for a mesh system, a pretty basic one (you can spend a lot!) and it did the job. It improved the wifi in the far end of the house and garden where it was poor/unreliable before. Money well spent (in my case less than £50).

I use a Belikin N300 which can be setup to repeat your home SSID, so no joining a second SSID or SSID_ext network, your devices just see it as the same as your existing router. It also shows range and tells you whether it's too far or too close to the router.
