What Watch Are You Wearing Today?

Apologies but the link goes to a Eco Drive and I should of replied to Bogeyman.

I have had two Eco Drives, never again, after a few years the capacitors went. The repair was more than the watch so I gave in and sold them on eBay as non runners.

A few years back, after Citizen bought Bulova, I bought a couple of Bulova watches. Nothing high falutin', just snazzy looking quartz watches. Neither one kept accurate time. I know that getting a quartz watch that keeps HEQ like time is a crap shoot, but incredibly my quartz Swatches do if worn.

Seeing the chat about Ecodrives, I still use a Citizen "Solar-tech 180" which was the predecessor to the Ecodrive. It is now 32 years old and never misses a beat! The 180 referred to the number of days it would run on a full charge.

Just read an interesting article on Smiths Watches history and I can see why they went under in Cheltenham:

...The market for them settled at a solid but reasonable price: in 1959 an Imperial Automatic in stainless steel would have been £25 (£550 in 2018 money), the same thing manual-wound would have been £12 (£260). The post-war civilian market was tough, and despite introducing new models and movements, fine watchmaking ended in Cheltenham in 1971...

Cheap they were not.

Some interesting pieces on the Timefactors site and very tempted by one of the Everest models I wonder what internals it has?
(Just had another look and its a Miyata)

I've owned this Explorer II for several years and bought when it was seen as a poor successor of the iconic 1. This polar version was also considered passé. Now its back in fashion considered rare compared to the more common black version and good value incorporating a GMT complication! I'm not going to put it back in its box and polish it occasionally as it's in regular use only getting time off if I go abroad.
