What Watch Are You Wearing Today?

Just a Timex Harborside Coast, one of the older disco'd ones with Indiglo back light. At 42mm it's a bit of an arm clock even on my 7.5" wrist. Oddly it looks larger than my Casio Tough Solar AQ-S810W even though it clearly isn't, probably due to the colour. This and my Nite Alpha are the only ones I can read in the middle of the night when I wake up, and there are times I don't necessarily want half a grand of watch on my arm. Need to stick it on a Nato at some point. Probably a vintage Bond style one so I can blow stuff up in the sea from the safety of my casino, as you do.

Have always fancied getting a Tag...this is a particularly good looking watch!

I used to sneer at them... "Not good enough for me, just overpriced fashion watches intended for gullible fools" to respecting their history and unique design language. I had to overcome my prejudice but it's a common one, in the watch world (especially online) Tag are regarded as completely passé, the chavs idea of a high end timepiece :D

I really want a vintage 1000 or 2000 series diver, preferably a night diver, as worn by Timothy Dalton back in the 80s but they're rare in good condition (and relatively expensive for an old quartz) so until the right one comes along I'll enjoy the Bamford which is my favourite of their modern offerings.

That's a really nice looking watch regardless of badge. I can't be a watch snob, my best watch is my Nite Alpha and today I'm just wearing my Timex Harborside, with the world's worst lume but the world's best backlight! Finally put it on a vintage Bond strap just because when I'm in the casino I get an uncontrolled urge to blow things up, as one does when you spend all day in a secret volcano. It's not actually a Nato strap, which didn't exist when the film was made. It's a US single pass strap. Mine does actually fit the lugs though, unlike the original in the movie! Sadly not a Submariner...

I have this TAG 1500, which i purchased new in 1994 for the princely sum of £400. Its still going strong and running +6 secs a month.

The lume has faded and has little life left in it nowadays. It went foggy under the dial about 10 years back, so it had a full strip and service and has run fine ever since. Subsequently i put the original steel bracelet into storage and put it on this Hirsch Mariner leather strap and keep it as a summer fun watch.

I do remember when i bought it there was a still a lot of lingering snobbery around TAG's acquisition of Heuer and particularly the launch of the TAG Heuer F1 watch in the late 1980's to do with TAG's involvement with Mclaren cars - a lot of people were very upset indeed that a Heuer watch had a plastic bezel and case !!!!

A beauty and it's served you well. I may end up with something similar on my "vintage" hunt... No offense intended to anyone by referring to the early 1990s as vintage :p

Yes I must admit, though I would like a mechanical watch, I am less interested in having to keep forking out to have some steely-eyed craftsmen maintain it for me. If I had the spare wedge to indulge it I might, as the idea of a nice auto does appeal, and there are many lovely mechanical watches out there that I like, but reality bites and having a decent Swiss quartz movement with a 10 year life Li battery is more in line with my lifestyle and low maintenance approach to as many things as possible.
