What made your day a good one

A bit late but last week I have been told I finally get to transfer to the river Mersey and my home city of Liverpool. Also to get my own ship again. Been a few years since I was last a ship's Master and 42 years as a seaman to work in Liverpool. I have been all around the world I don't know how many times and never been to my own backyard.

Happy days

  1. Getting out of hospital although I earned a new friend there and thought the RIE nurses and staff that dealt with our ward were amazing.
  2. Finding my first girlfriend after 5 years in the desert post-divorce.
  3. Chatting to my daughter about everything she wanted to talk about especially her wanting to try my crutches on Monday when I see her next.
  4. Having dinner with my amazing family for the first time since Tuesday.
  5. Experiencing my dogs' excited, loving reaction when I got back into the house.
  6. Oh aye, and a braw shave in the hospingtile too.

Here's to many more good moments for us all! ;):)

Brilliant and may you enjoy all there is to be enjoyed

I've been quiet on the forum this past few days due to work in the main. However finished Saturday early afternoon, had a great meal with my dearest then for the past two nights the Bootle music festival. Glastonbury it ain't, it was better, it was real and the atmosphere brilliant for such a little local gathering. Last night the main acts were 'Space' and 'Dodgy' and this evening 'The Farm'. I know the guitarist from the farm and it was great to share a few words this evening as I haven't seen him for years.

Beer in hand, my lovely wife with me and what a great couple of days. All happy and set up for the week ahead.

Hiya,

Well, I am pretty sick and have been for quite a while now. Some breathing problems because of various COPD related issues have made my lifestyle very limited regarding getting out and about and last November I was scheduled for a fairly major procedure called LVRS. There was a LOT of tests I hadda take, plus many hours of physical therapy to build up my strength in advance, but sadly I was unable to have that done because of other complications that are gone now.

So, once again I was on the waiting list early this year, having undergone more testing and finally recently got the date for going under the knife, it being September 11th with any luck. Still more tests before a final ok so who the hell knows and oh yeah, another 30 hours of PT (cardio mostly) completed. Jeez I really hate to exercise.

This operation may or may not help a good bit....no guarantees, but it's my best shot at having a somewhat normal life again after 7 years of being in a continually slow downward health spiral. It's encouraging to see some positive news again.

See what happens I guess,

Martin
