What great natural skin you have!

When working I was invariably on the road at 05:30am (that was what was expected and necessary), which meant that I was up at 04:45am to allow time to get ready, shower, shave etc. This meant that at the most I had time for a cartridge razor shave c/w canister gel prep and that was about it. I am a little surprised that anyone has the time for such extensive facial preparations; but great if anyone has got such time. There again, I can't or at least am not prepared, to spend the time involved for a traditional wet shave, which involves all of the procedures, such as soaking the brush, working up and applying the lather, very careful shaving and repeat etc, etc. I suppose everyone has to decide which procedures are important to them, whether that be facial preparations, physical exercise, mental exercise, DIY, household chores, time for the family, travelling to and from work, time actually working, time socialising etc, etc, etc. I also used to be forced to moisturise my whole body every morning and I am only too aware how much time this particular procedure actually took: cooling down from a shower, applying the moisturiser, allowing the moisturiser to soak in before one could start the process of actually getting dressed; it was not pleasant; but unfortunately was an absolute necessity.

A proper shave doesn't take that long really. I keep my soap in a bowl/crock thing and lather on top of it, then straight to the face with no prep whatsoever. Then shave, there's no careful to it, just shave. I don't soak my brushes either, just dip and twist and remove excess water and go. And of course I use a proper boar brush. Less time than brushing your teeth.

Well done TobyC; I found that my face was just covered in cuts and blood; tried my best for six months and then accepted defeat (with a DE SR) and went back to cartridge razor and canned gel. Didn't matter how carefully I shaved; almost always got cut and especially found the areas around the nostrils almost impossible to do. Prep, shave and clear up (and the associated paraphernalia - soaps, bowls, creams, bushes, stands; cleaning the chrome on the razor after every use etc, etc) just took far too long for me (apart from the cuts). I also like to shave quickly every day.
