What do people think of the Rockwell 6c/s

Hope someone can shed some light on this razor, as I was thinking of buying this as a back up, like my other umpteen back ups that I have lol. I have heard some good reviews on this razor but would like to get some of the members on here to give me some of their experiences using this razor. It looks the business but at around £45 - £65 I thought I would get some info before purchasing.
Thanks People

I'd certainly recommend the 6c. I got mine back in October and it's my go to DE razor. Only been wet shaving for half a year and I'm now trying out SE razors, but the 6c has performed well. Once you find the plate that suits its a breeze to use. Certainly smoother and more efficient than my Merkur 34c and Gillette Fatboy razors, though they're still good to use too!

In short, the 6c is well worth a punt! [emoji1303]

TL;dr: I'm a big fan

I bought a 6C on BST, tried it out for a couple of months with different plates and blades, then I bought a 6S at Xmas! I'm still a relatively new wet shaver (coming up for a year), but using either of them with the R4 plate feels effortless and I can get a really smooth shave with zero irritation.

The 6C is quite heavy and the 6S moreso and for me it feels like the weight does a lot of the work. The blade gap and angle feel totally natural to me and similar to the EJ89 used before.

I was a bit worried about buying a 6S as I'd read about some quality control concerns with recent purchases on Reddit, but spoke to Anthony from Shave Lounge who put my mind at ease and I'm super happy I bought it.

Thanks for the feed back guys I have just started to get back into wet shaving after many many years using the cartridge razors, I will probably get the 6s as stated by sev-8 the weight will probably help getting a closer shave. Just gotta plant the seed with the boss and all should be good lol will keep you posted once it arrives.:):)
Thanks people

Another vote for the 6C. My go-to razor. Possibly if I were starting again would buy the 6S as the C is made of ZAMAK.

Yeah, I bought the 6C to try out before deciding to spend twice as much on the 6S. In hindsight I could've gotten the 6S at the start, but would've been out of pocket if it hadn't have suited me.

The quality control issues with the 6C are real. I and others have had the thread of the 6C handle disintegrate so it just turns round. However, the three baseplates are perfectly fine in Zamak since there's no friction and nothing to wear out. They also save a little weight over the stainless baseplates. So I would actually get the 6C for the baseplates. If the top cap and handle last for a while so much the better. But what I did was to replace all my handles with one single titanium handle from rusdrunkbear on eBay. This now fits on my 6C with the 6C top cap and gives a great shave on #5 and #6. It also fits on my R41 and on my Fatip OC baseplate using a Yintal Bronze top cap for the M5 thread. Picture shows this razor, and my titanium handle which is much better than the regular 6C one.

My 6C is my fallback razor, I‘d take him in the lonely island if I could only take one.

Ideal weight distribution, best thickness/weight of the handle.
Plates 3-6 are usable for me, I favor 4 as safe but thorough enough.

Thinking of getting a 6S, as stainless steel feels better in the hand .

For me the plate 4 is the best resultnfornsmoith comfortable shaves. Plate 5 and 3 are also good. Plate 1&2 dont do much at all, and Plate 6 is a bit too much for my taste.

The 6S has been my daily shave 95% of the time for over a year now, excellent razor.

The 2 plate gives me a really good shave on a daily basis with the 4 if I have more than a days growth.

My sons have a 6C and a 2C. You can tell I'm a fan

Had them both for one day each and sold them as quickly as possible. I don't see the point when I put it on setting "2" and it never moves.
Similar thing here, except my 6S was a replacement for the first duff Kickstarter issue, so I'm not about to say goodbye to it. I generally set it on "4", but I do use the other plates either side of that occasionally, when I decide to depart from my usual blade choices. It's always produced a decent shave, whatever the setting.

What do the different plates do, make it more or less aggressive? How many plates are there and which is the most aggressive? Thanks

You can read all about it on the Rockwell site. Three plates, 6 settings. They are 2-sided so for example 5 and 6 are on one plate - you just turn the plate over. 1 is mild and so on up to 6 which is the most efficient.

[emoji1375] exactly.

The different plates give different blade gaps. Some people like to find the plate (blade gap) that suits them, then stick to the same plate thereafter. Others like to change plates as they progress through their shave, starting aggressive then changing to less aggressive.

It's entirely up to you and how you choose to use it, as they say.....YMMV.
