What did your Dad shave with?

I have a mental picture of a 40 something man in the 1970's (sideburns, flares etc) standing over a 13 year old boy with an electric razor in his hand and saying 'This is the razor I use. I hate this razor. It tears my face up. It is now yours.'

I've never shaved with an electric razor, I worry I might be missing out on something. The closest I have got was when I used my clippers to trim my beard down before wet shaving and it would always be a horrible experience.
That mental image is not far off at all.

It's nearly 30 years since I last used an electric razor, and I've no desire to use one again.

My dad as far as i can remember shaved with a Gillette Slim Twist used Palmolive shave cream if he ran out of that plain old bath soap and of course the most important item Rizlas :ROFLMAO:

I'm pretty sure he used an aluminium Gillette Tech before I came along but he had a beard until I was 2 or 3.
Apparently I was with him in the Bathroom as he was shaving it off at the request of my mother, so I wasn't freaked when I saw him without his beared for the first time. But half way through his shave he had to call my mum to take me away as I was picking up the hair he'd shaved off and was trying to stick it back on his face, uttering the words "nuff now daddy, nuff now".

But the wet shaving days are over for him, now he generally uses an electric one.
I'm trying to convince him to start using a DE again, he's yet to take the bait.

My old man used a Gillette slim twist 70- mid 80s with the trusty old Palmolive or Boots shave stick and wil sword blades.
He then moved into various cartridge systems with crap gel.
In the early 2000s switched to electric and now recently switched to Lidl carts.

My dad has used an electric razor and Tabac aftershave for as long as I can remember.
When I started proper shaving I was reluctant to use Tabac for a year or two because I didn't want to smell like my dad.
I now acknowledge that he knows a thing or two about aftershave. I now smell like my dad most of the time.
I still can't stand the idea of moving a noisy lawnmower thing around my face to shave.
Mom seems happy with his results, so maybe I should have a word with him about technique. Nah.
Long may he go on using his horrible electric thing. Love you, dad.

My old fella always saw shaving as a chore and always went the cheapest equipment route. I remember him using a Wilkinson DE in the early ‘70's then switching to BIC and cheap disposables, soap Palmolive or Boots and used Old Spice aftershave.

My dad is 87 next month and uses a Bic disposable. I did buy him a Braun electric for when he has to spend time in a hospital and rather likes what it does.

My dad used Gem Razors exclusively
He just didn't like DE Razors at all, I mostly
Remember him using a G-Bar , a gold
Pushbutton and the last razor I can recall
Him using is the Contour Pushbutton. And
Also he used Horse hair brushes exclusively.
It's been well over 50 years but I can still
Remember going to the corner Rexall store
And picking up a pack of Gem blades for
My Dad.

My dad uses a electric razor sometimes maybe abut once or twice a year he uses his old Gillette de razor with Palmolive stick thats hes had for about 30years with old spice aftershave

I remember my dad using a very old 3 head rotary shaver, maybe a Philips and then he moved onto a Braun foil shaver.

No idea what he uses now but I do remember him trying a Wilkinson Sword Protector in the mid 90's
