What are you reading at the moment?

Oh and before July 10 (I think it is) if you're willing to temporarily switch your Kindle to the US store, you can get some games on there too... Scrabble for 99c (plus sales tax because I used an address in Texas)

Cheers for the tip on Scrabble, just popped over to the US store to pick it up. Good old Beverly Hills 90210, no sales tax there. :) Will add it to my wife's Kindle later as well, she's Scrabble mad.

I'm getting to the end of "Mostly Harmless" by Douglas Adams. In fact I have recently re-read all the Hitchhiker Guide series of books on the Kindle. Before that I read Empire of the Clouds: When Britain's Aircraft Ruled the World.

I've also read Enigma by Robert Harris, Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K Jerome, and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.

I have also part read Beer Is Proof That God Loves Us.

I bought mine at the end of April, so I don't think that is too bad considering I normally average about one book a year..............

I think I prefer Jeeves and Bertie though. I loved the series but I think the books are funnier. More slapstick. The show never made me laugh out loud but the books do. Just brilliant.

I agree wholeheartedly. My favourite J&B, which is to say the one I re-read most recently, is The Code of the Woosters, but my favourite Wodehouse of them all is Full Moon.

Back to Scandi-noir for a moment: Oxfam came up trumps with a Läckberg this afternoon so I'll report back soon. Anne Holt is worth trying, as are Håkan Nesser and Mari Jungstedt. My wife brought home an Arnaldur Indriðason but took it back to the library in disgust at the stilted translation - I would've liked a go on that :icon_rolleyes:. Anyway, the Nordic crime fiction vein seems to be a deep and rich one.

Worked my way through the Bond novels, got Man with the Golden Gun and Live and Let Die to go, brilliant entertainment.

Just about finished this

Great writer. Funny, gory, sexy and makes you think about our little time we have here.

Song of Ice and Fire (again) by George RR Martin. After watching the amazing TV series I just had to pick up the books again. I just hope book 5 is published soon.

Neuromancer by William Gibson, an absolutely brilliant read and an essential for lovers of cyberpunk stuff.

Just started The First Law series by Joe Abercrombie - cracking fantasy fiction series.

Nice one, thanks Damian :)

Death by black hole - Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Thumbs up to Amazon customer service. The e-ink on my kindle went tits up, making it completely unreadable. 24 hours after speaking to a lovely lady in America I had a new Kindle in my hands and a courier booked to pick the broken one up. Fantastic service.

Just finished re-reading one of my all-time favourite books, "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole, this time on the Kindle. Then I finished off the last few pages of 'More Blood, More Sweat and Another Cup Of Tea' by Tom Reynolds, which I tended to dip in and out of every now and then.

Not sure what I'll read next - like everyone else, I've got a ton of stuff lined up. Not only that, but I've got a couple of analogue books on the go at the moment too (and a small mountain of them left to read).

Just finished Solar by Ian McEwan (excellent) and now on to some lighter stuff - the Agatha Raisin series by M.C. Beaton.

Real books, not Kindle.
