I am a sucker for inexpensive traditional shaving creams, Arko et al, will do the job nicely, come without bragging rights but I am too old to care.

Before getting in to using soaps I used Trumpers Creams only. I must have gone through at least a tub of each scent in over 7 years of using them.
They all perform excellently.
My favourite cream of all time is Trumpers GFT. Solid performance and an awesome scent. (The matching cologne is very nice too)
They're not the cheapest creams out there but worth every penny in my opinion.

My favourite and without doubt the best was Mordock Avalon Shave Cream. Unfortunately no longer available.

After that any of the Castle Forbes pretty much out performs all the others.

Indeed GFT is a great cream with a great scent but do you not find the Cologne smells a bit, well, soapy? As do most of Trumpers Colognes

Really impressed with Truefitt &Hill. Still got loads of Ultimate Comfort tub left but my West Indian Limes tube is running low. Wondering what the others are like. Any love out there for T&H Grafton or 1805? Out of stock at Shave Dash.

Yep - shaved with Ultimate Comfort today - very mild lavender scent - and West Indian Limes is on the shelf too thanks to a generous PIF. I gather the scents are made with proper essential oils and that bodes well. Curious about 1805 now.

Acqua Di Parma Colonia from about 10 years ago.

I've heard the new stuff isn't a patch on it in performance or scent, which is a shame.

I've had a real think about this one lately and come to the conclusion that all the creams I have are pretty damn fine. However what I have managed to do is wheedle out those which for me are either useless or absolute rubbish. TOBS being near the top of the bad list.
