Wavering.. Help Me!

When I got sick of the prices of cartridges and goop in a can, I went to electric. Enjoyed the Braun Series 7 and Philips Senso.

Years later, I got introduced and fell in love with wet shaving. Accumulated an arsenal of soaps, brushes, DEs and straight razors.

Many rare items: Gillette toggle NOS, Iwasaki Tamahagane.. And others that are pricey: ATT, Wackers, Thiers Issard.

Last night I did the unthinkable. I was really bored. I.. bought a Gillette Fusion Proglide.

I wanted to hate it. But I didn't. I really enjoyed it.

So am I on the edge of sacrilege? I mean, do I get to keep enjoying my soaps and brushes but start disliking my straights and beautiful DEs?

I still resent the price of Gillette cartridges. And the idea of a plastic razor. But man.. They shave really well.

Yeah, I wouldn't be worrying too much about this.

We are a broad church, i've been wet shaving for 23 years (i'm 42) because my skin couldn't take electrics and although I enjoyed a brush I used cartridges up till a couple of years ago.

The King of Shaves one was really good and a lot cheaper (I think it was called Azor?) but the Lidl cartridge system is equally as good, if not better and dirt cheap!

It that the New Ball Gillette. The one that looks like a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner???
WOW! I was going to buy one last week from Walmart! How does it shave!!!

Actually, not even that. Just a Proglide (the version right before the powerball you're talking about) and it was great.

The one with the ball I think is so far only released in the US. Will be very temping once it arrives here. Thing is, we really shouldn't.. Their plasticky and cheap made, yet very expensive. Sucks they shave so well lol

I think you now have your grail razor so no point holding on to the others. I'll give you a decent price on the Gillette, Iwasaki and Wacker but be advised prices have fallen significantly since you acquired them.

I believe it was me that put you on the scent of the Iwasaki, therefore it's only fair that it should come my way. I already have the Bergischer Lowe and a Dovo Fritz Bracht on the way so I'll pass on the Bijou de France thanks.

By the way, I think Anthony was being post modern.

I think you will really enjoy the BL. It's a joy to grip and maneuver with.

And yes, the Iwasaki was thanks to you! So you have dibs if I do loose my marbles and decide to sell anything

The thing that annoys me about carts (from the 'big' players) is that they're massively over priced (I suspect a large part of the cost of a cartridge goes to the marketing department) . The irony being that some of us are driven here by that cost issue and then happily spend ten times the money on assorted shaving crap. If it works for you, use it. Multi blades don't work very well for me because I shave infrequently and they end up getting clogged. In this instance something like the Gillette Guard works very well, it's an excellent piece of design, simple and efficient and doesn't clog. I've never tried a ProGlide so can't comment but I've used the Hydro 3 and Feather FII Neo and find that they both work very well. As does the Sensor if you shave regularly.
