Water resistant black ink recommendations

A word of warning. You will find, if you look at the descriptions of the various inks which are waterproof or resistant, that many have caveats about their use in fountain pens. For example, Diamine Registrars is an iron gall ink, which can play merry hell with nibs and internals. I have myself spoilt a reasonable pen or two over the years through failing to observe the requirements arising from use of some waterproof inks.

There are various recommendations around the web. The procedures for preventing pen damage are mainly concerned with washing the pen out, and not storing it filled or unwashed. The other thing is not to use them in valuable/valued/vintage pens.
This site gives a reasonable run down of the inks which they sell (no connection, I should add):-

I personally use Platinum Carbon, which is a good ink, but needs the pen to be properly used and maintained to avoid damage. I use it in a cheap adapted Jinhao pen, which I do look after, but, if I forgot to "do the needful", wouldn't be an expensive write-off.
Cheers for the tip and link. I had read about the ink being damaging to pens and nibs. So the idea was to use a Jinhao 599, the same reason, if it gets binned I shouldn't cry too much.

Same here - Carbon Black with a Jinhao0 x750. No difficulties as yet; but I do wash it carefully and thoroughly before storing the pen.

I love Platinum pens but would not use their inks even in their Century 3776 pen (even though they guarantee its safety in them) as the ink comes with a dire health warning on Cult Pens and it is one of my favourite pens.

I would recommend Noodlers Black . All of Noodlers Blacks are good but X Feather (good for using on cheap paper) and Heart of Darkness are the richest. There has been a lot of hot air about these ruining pens and clogging but I found that to be nonsense. It washes off hands easily and from pens in a light detergent or ammonia solution. I certainly trust it over iron gall. They are very permanent too. Only place to buy Noodlers in Europe is Pure Pens but it is good value. You get a nice little eyedropper pen with the Heart of Darkness too.

I thought to try something different, so I bought the Noodler's Monkey Hanger, which is a Bulletproof blue ink exclusive to Pure Pens. I can attest to what you say about not clogging etc. It's a very free running ink and, as I've been trying to tune flex nibs using it, and am too idle to empty and refill the pens each time, my fingers have been covered in it. There is no problem washing it off them, but it stays quite "fast" on the paper. I think it may be a little less resistant than some of the blacks, however.
