Want to try SE

So my daily shave is with a Rockwell 6S on plate 3 and I'm thinking of broadening my horizons into the world of SE's.
I don't want anything more aggressive than plate 3 on the 6S, more efficient is fine of course!
Was thinking maybe the Blackland Vector when they're back in stock. Has anyone tried both razors and can comment on aggressiveness between the 2?
Any other suggestions?
Might have to change my username if I go ahead!
Thanks, DE (possibly SE) Convert

The advice I was given when I started looking into SE razors was to try the RazoRock Hawk first. It's not overly expensive should you decide it's not for you. The Hawk is a great performer and forgiving, should you need time to dial in.

I've not looked back and have since got a Claymore to add to the Hawk. Also a OneBlade but that doesn't really count.

I'd certainly advise you to look at the Hawk and see how that goes for a month.

Good luck! You won't regret it!

Great advise. Start with the Hawk and see how it goes. Usually downhill with the bank balance once you realise how damn good SE's are. Hawks are a very honest and very efficient razor and a lovely introduction in to SE Shaving.

I asked much the same question some time back and I would say they are now the mainstay of my Shaving routine despite me still having a number of DE's in the mix which I love. The Ikon SB being a bit of an obsession with me.

Have a look at this thread to which some great advise was given

Thanks for the replies guys.

@Sabre I'm not really sure about the different types of blades. Are there any new razors that take the injector blades?
I'm not keen on the second hand market. The thought of using second hand razors creeps me out. Completely irrational I know but that's just me.

@GordyC and @Satanfriendly I wasn't sure about the Hawk. I have read that some find it on the aggressive side, but I suppose for £30 it might be worth a punt. Do you guys still use your Hawks despite now owning higher end SE's?

I have just started using SE and don't know why it's taken me so long to get to it. I recently bought a Supply razor with all three plates and once I adapted my pressure and angles I have consistently had excellent results. I have also just bought a Schick Golden 500 injector and it beats the Supply into a cocked hat, just a wonderful shaver. It's 60years old and you couldn't wish for a better razor.20190906_174443.jpg20190906_174443.jpg

Not really. It kind of sits on the higher side of mild to me. Compared to other SE's it is a little puppy. A different handle does make it more assertive.

The whole thing about this aggressive story doesn't really count as I would sooner have a well-made aggressive razor than a badly behaved mild baby. It just takes an adjustment in life and they make you look at prep more which can only be a good thing.

Hawks? Great starting points.

Yeah, I still use my Hawk. It is light being aluminium, however pair it with the right blade and/or add extra weight with a different handle and it can be really assertive, in a great way.

I'd certainly recommend it.

Great thanks, might go for it.
Any recommendations on blades for the Hawk?

Do the wider blades effect getting into the hard to shave areas, for those of us with "defined" features?

I can't say I have found any particular issue but then again the only defined feature I have is a huge head. All you have to think; is those heard as nails straight shavers have bloody huge blades to contend with and I have never heard them complain.
