Vintage suggestions

Hi,

I'm thinking about picking up a cheap vintage razor on eBay, sub £20 if possible. My regular driver is the Gamechanger 0.84 & Rockwell 6 on a 4 plate. I'm open to suggestions, condition should be fairly good but I'm not concerned about being boxed etc, more interested in something unusual that performs. Any ideas?

Thanks.
Just spotted that the trial fatboy available for loan just now , why not ask for it to be sent to you . It's my fazorite razor and with patience and bit more cash you could pick one up for under £50 which is well worth it

After a fair bit of looking I've came across a Gillette Slim, TTO adjustable. I was looking at this as I've tried and discarded a few razors in my time for being too mild (mostly) or aggressive (occasionally) and the option to dial this in appeals. On Ebay fairly rough looking examples are going for about £20-£25, £40 for good looking and around £70 for mint. Any thoughts on this?

I'm currently eying up the slim which I believe is similar head. I know myself pretty well, I'll start looking at the fat boys around the £50 mark and then end up falling for a replated, reconditioned mint boxed version at £170, its happened before.....

This is also why I'm trying to avoid looking at the Aristocrat.

Try picking up a cheap cruddy looking one as long as it looks as if it works properly ( ask seller how butterfly work and does adjuster turn ) .
Once cleaned it's amazing what some the worst looking razors look like . Once you have cleaned and sterilised it and are happy , give it a go and see what you think of the shave . If you like it then fall down that rabbit hole a buy a more expensive one and sell old one on
Another alternative is to put your name down for the pass me round box which has a fat boy and a 109 to let guys try ( can you tell I'm a bigger fan of my fat boy than my slim )

After a bit of head scratching I'm going to request the pass around fatboy to see how I get on with it and to see if it lives up to the hype. Its a bit over budget but hey ho. I dropped quite a lot of bucks on a Model T last year and just couldn't get a smooth shave from it so its probably wise to try before I buy.
