Vintage Merkur Slant

Yesterday I bought this vintage razor on B&B. Does anyone know when was made more or less? Thanks.

I honestly don't know, might be worth contacting Merkur directly.

Can you tell me what sort of finish that is on the handle?

Is it a very fine knurl, a coating or something else?

Look for posts by "Chessman" over at B&B.

He was the fella who had about 100 of these razors and there are a lot of threads which give some info on them.

That looks like an open comb rather than a slant ...but very nice.

These Merkurs were I think made in the 1960s/1970s

They are great shavers too

The coating is EPNS - (Electro-Plated Nickel Silver) over a brass engine turned handle and zinc based head - which can corrode so keep it clean
