Being the kind of token eco kind of person I am, I ordered a CODE ZERO/King of Shave shave stick.
When I've used a shave stick in the past, I've used the stick, rubbed it over a wet face, then used the brush to lather it up. All was fine.
Looking at the KoS/CodeZero shaving setups, there's no comment about using a brush. There are lots of reasons for why they didn't do a brush: it's either plastic (syth bristles) or non-vegan (animal based fibres), or maybe they just didn't think of it, or maybe the profit margins are in it for them, or maybe, just maybe, their stick isn't designed to be used with a brush.
So, as I had the opportunity, I gave the stick a try without a brush. Wet face, rub stick, then used hands to cover beard fully, then shaved. I must admit it did the job admirably. But it didn't lather in the same way as the sticks have in the past for me. But then again, KoS does do the low-lather gels/serums for their normal shaving options.
Has anyone tried it with a brush? Is it a common thing to not need a brush with a stick?
