I'm afraid posts in these sections may slow in future, as most of my information comes from following discussions on the Netweather forum. Unfortunately, moderators there are allowing 'groupthink' WRT which weather preferences are protected from free speech and which aren't, and I will have to see whether I can put up with this new reality or whether I decide to leave. I'll keep you posted, of course.
For example, in a thread which we have previously been warned is for objective discussion of the model ouputs ONLY, this sort of commentary passes un-moderated:
we have the heat to look forward to at the end of the week and into the weekend then a blip to start the new working week then signs that things look set to warm up again,ok,not the heat that we will feel come the end of the week but pleasant enough
Were I to mention in reply that not everyone is anticipating the expected Spanish plume of heat and humidity into the southern half of England on at the end of the week (30C and high humidity) it would be deleted for not being model analysis. We have also been told that we are not allowed to point out to those who proclaim that the summer so far has been awful and that the only acceptable development from here would be a two-month drought and heatwave that this would have profound negative consequences. This is, apparently, because daring to confront such a selfish worldview in which the person can ignore and live in a parallel world of their own invention with a dose of reality is an attempt to make them feel guilty.
