Travel Brush Container

I have been mulling over the idea of buying a travel brush. It seems most are a compromise in that the knot is smaller and they are a little lacking in terms of lathering ability. Last year I bought a £2.99 brush from the chemist and it was so bad I threw it in the bin and hand lathered for the holiday. I really like having a brush and this year did not want to compromise.

The only ones that seem to be as good as a home brush are the Simpsons Major and at £80-£90 I would rather buy an ordinary one and take the hit on extra size.

Having weighed up my options I have decided to take the very first brush I bought, an EJ BBB. It is nice in that it is quite small and light but there is enough of a loft and density to get some decent lather. It is a good brush for both soaps and creams.

On the collective advice of the forums I visited my local pharmacy on Saturday morning and took the brush with me. Luckily enough he had a tub which was just the job and would not take a penny for it. A couple of holes drilled in the lid and base and the end result;

As you can see a perfect fit for the brush,

So a tip to make a decent travel brush is to use one of your own and talk nice to your chemist.

I am planning to use a small vulfix for travel (as opposed to a purpose made one), re the container I had a thought that instead of a hard container what about a fabric one, tube like with a drawstring at both ends.

Opinions?

If You go to most large "Car Boots" you normally see the Gents Grooming Kits for £2 or £3 quid, just use the nice Brush and Shave Stick Containers from those, i picked one up in mint condition, and it had two Containers and two mint condition Culmak Brushes...for £3.00

Yep, that's what I use: Culmak brush in one, Palmolive in t'other.

Drawstring at both ends so the brush can be inserted and removed base first so the bristles dont snag. If you get me? A plastic tube is smooth so the brush just shakes out presumably.
