Things are starting to get a little crazy...

Hiya,

When I was 11 or so there were other new houses being built in the neighborhood and kids like myself would wander through the incomplete shells on the workers day off or after hours.

Tennis shoes.......gym shoes, sneakers was the kind of protection on my foot when I stepped an a large nail sticking up from the floor or somewhere. Right in the middle of the foot and happened early that morning so there still was time to try something for the discomfort, plus the obligatory tetanus shot, to make me able to join the other guys for a night baseball game. Sigh, Hank Aaron was playing back then and there was gonna be lights and hot dogs.

Anyway, I never was able to make that trip,

Martin

Long time ago while in the Army, we would break into the camp next door and harass the neighbouring Regiment. All sorts of stunts were pulled. Crapping in their vehicles, stealing flags etc, ya get the picture. Copious amounts of alcohol was usually prevalent. One night I was climbing over their fence. Typical wire fence with barbed wire along the top. I climbed up, grabbed the barbed wire and pulled myself up and the barbed wire came loose from it's post and stabbed me in the head, through my eye brow. Nippy as hell to say the least. Think I crapped in a Land rover that night and bled all over it. Strange how memories can resurface.

Could've been worse - could've been Lego
I'll see your Lego - and raise you - my most impressive scar - there are a few on my body - I like to think of them as the tattoos of idiocy - I accidentally stuck - I'm not sure why I say accidentally - you wouldn't do it on purpose - a running chainsaw into the instep of my left foot - just underneath the protective wadding in the boot - it didn't hurt initially - I think I went into shock - on account of the copious amounts of blood - according to the doctor I missed my tendons by a mm - what did hurt - was in A&E - when they scrubbed the wound out with a nail brush - to get the chain oil out. F**k me - that nipped. I have another scar on my upper left thigh - slipped when snedding a tree in the snow - chainsaws don't cut - they gouge - all these years later - still an impressive war wound. Lego? - pussy. Ha ha ha ha - I.

Wow Iain - might I suggest you pay someone to do those tasks for you in the future?

I used to work in the woods - I cut trees down for a living - I gave that up - for the much more gentle pastures of being a news photographer - yes - much safer - let's get shot at by Afghans you've never met. Let's get shelled in Dubrovnik - ah - I now realise - my life choices have not been entirely sound - ha ha - still here though. I.

Haha - that's quite the life you've had!

I think I've spent most of my time on days I'm off work doing gardening. Lol IMG-20200412-WA0003.jpeg

Currently got lettuces and radishes planted, the sweet corn is almost ready to go in from the greenhouse, the peas and cucumbers are just starting to pop up too. Haven't seen much action from my tomato seeds yet (they was taken from shop bought tomatoes though as I realised I didn't have any in my seed draw!) :(. I've got a few habaneros and scotch bonnets seeds planted in the greenhouse too. Plus the strawberries and rhubarbs that can been in for a few years

Since garden centers aren't open too I've planted loads of flowers too, marigolds, sweet Williams, gypsyphelia, poppys, morning glory and more that I forget the names of xD

Having never seen it before - now had the time to watch the first two series of Auf Wiedersehen Pet. Absolutely loved it!

Never watched it, but I have a ton of DVDs to watch, mix of comedy & music. I got the One Foot in the Grave complete box set a couple of years back and it's been sat on the shelf all that time. I only ever saw a handful of random episodes back in the day. It seems like years since it's been repeated on the TV. Doing the whole thing in order, onto series 2 now. There's a bit of Victor Meldrew in us all, surely
