The Sound of TV

Last night I watched a wonderful programme on the BBC iPlayer called {linked ->} "The Sound of TV".

Neil Brand explores the origins of TV and advert music. How and why they were composed, and the cultural impact that they had. Really interesting stuff. If like me you love a heavy dollop of nostalgia - you are in for a treat.

At one point, and I'm paraphrasing, the presenter talks about how music from your favourite programmes or ads can be as evocative as looking at family photos. That the music takes you back to your childhood. Watching TV with family, some of whom may no longer be around. Safe and happy times. Really wonderful stuff.

Got me thinking: Do the good folk of TSR enjoy reminiscing over TV of their youth? If so, whats your favourite TV theme tune?

For me its the theme to Juliet Bravo. Cant say I particularly remember the programme its self, but I can remember watching it in the early 80's with my dad. He was a constable in the 70's & 80's in West Yorkshire and insisted on watching it every week. When I hear it now it takes me instantly back to being with him - he passed away 9 years ago. Weird eh?
