The Bullgoose Asylum RX razor - are you getting one?

The latest pics of the complete prototype look amazing and since iKon's SE "El Jefe" will be released until christmas, yeah i think i'm getting the RX.

Sadly, like some other fellow wetshavers, seems that my dream of a modern SSSE "GEM blade Type" razor wil be never fulfilled.

Rocnel, and Colonial Razors stated quite plainly that after their current project is done (the AC type SE), they are definitely going the GEM route. Time will tell.

Totally forgot about Colonial's "The General"! Another razor on my list... Kyle gave me good news when i contacted him, but not as good as the one you sharing here. :D

Besides the upcoming Colonial and Rocnel models, there is currently the OneBlade, which takes both the spineless Feather FHS and the GEM with the spine removed. ;)

I think it's ugly as hell from an aesthetic perspective.

However, it seems designed to reduce weight in the over large artist club/shavette style head, similar to that slimmer profile we see in the Cobra, which should make the shave more nimble and less cumbersome.

Also, a thinner central section in the handle reduces weight, providing all the knurling one needs, widening out like a bell in the bottom to provide better balance when standing... Less chance of falling.

Judging from looks: Ugly, but well thought out for practical use. Function over form. Utilitarian.

It's what I envision a razor used in a Sci-Fi movie might look like :)
I like that it doesn't adhere to your more typical handle/head design. Good on them for coming out with something a bit different.
In an increasingly crowded SE space this one will at least stand out.

If we go the utilitarian route, I wonder at what point someone would just make a handle, with a slot/cage at the top, where you slip in something like a sawed off Feather/CJB straight :)
You don't need tabs. You don't need anything beyond pressing the "clamp" and set the blade. Sort of a two piece razor.
