Taming A Floppy Brush

I have a brush that is far too floppy. It is ~19mm but set at 60mm.

Not only do I like the handle, but I love how soft and comfortable this vintage brush is and would love to work out a solution.

Rubber band or o-ring rolled up from the handle onto the hair to make it act like a shorter loft, take it off to dry.

That's about the only way I can think of to give the brush a bit more backbone. In an ideal world the solution would be to remove the knot intact, drill the handle a bit deeper and re-insert the knot with less loft. Unfortunately, I think it would be very hard/bordering on the impossible to remove the old knot without damaging either it or the handle, and probably both.

I hope you get it sorted. It's a nice looking brush.
I'm liking the fly in the resin handle.
