Talc

Does anyone else use talc on their neck after shaving? Wearing a shirt and tie everyday in this muggy weather really takes its toll on my neck causing a red mark. I started using talc and this appears to have stopped the problem. I lightly sprinkle it on a old boar brush and dust away.
And despite the price difference does anyone know the difference between shaving talc and regular?

Good idea...one of my uncles was a barber and he would finish a hair cut by dry shaving the back of the neck line with a shavette and then apply talc with a puffer to stop any irritation, the talc was mildly medicated which I think had an obvious name like "Cuticura"

Old Spice used to do a shaving talc - it came in a blue plastic squeezy bottle with a perforated stopper - I used to use it until it disappeared from the market.
It was good stuff, and being powdered after a shave rather appealed to my "inner dandy".

Lets just be clear what we are talking about here.

There is medicated talc like Cuticura, shave talc by Pinaud (don't know if it is medicated)
there is also a shaving powder specifically designed for ingrowns and razor bumbs that is basically powdered immac.?

The talc i am using is Boots Medicated which contains Allantoin which is the same ingredient in Proraso to aid skin rashes and promote healing. The Boots talc only costs £2.50 ish and is unscented so it does not interfere with your AS.
I have priced up the Clubman talc which is heavilly scented and found it way to expensive in the Uk ( nearly a tenner ).
I would not recommend any of the Nair type talcs which literally burn the hair from your follicles like napalm.

Seriously i recommend using talc to anyone after shaving. It takes all the usual shine from your face after using a balm/AS, makes your face feel really soft and takes away any last lingering redness that your post shave products leave behind.

I've never used talc post shave but have thought about it. The fear I had was that it might dry out my face but from what I have read, this is not the case. I presume that after applying as/asb you just dust on lightly. That Boots medicated talc could be worth a try. ;)
