Sunglasses

BM, there are quite a few online dispensing opticians (some of which run fairly small concerns) that now can offer this service. This may be a little unknown because naturally opticians like to keep this trade to themselves and for years have been charging handsomely for it.

I used to have a pair but I seem to remember they would react to the slightest amount of uv light and go dark even if you was indoors sitting near a window!
I changed over to having a clear set and a set made up as sun glasses.
I am now well over due for my eye test and have found my reading glasses no longer work well enough so I need to book myself in for a test! P.

Im not too bothered about that tinting, I'd rather have one pair that fits all than cart around two pairs. Also with my taste for Wayfarers it would cost a double fortune. Opticians are near on £500 For current, Wayfarer, transitions, coatings and Varifocals.

My main issue was with driving, at dusk when I didn't wish to wear sun glasses for safety reasons my glasses would tint up with the slightest amount of UV light which I thought was a bit of a safety issue but this was a long time ago and maybe the reaction lenses have improved somewhat.
I do like the idea of Wayferer frames with transistions lenses though, very nice indeed! P.

I get quite a few complements on them, even form my students. When normality returns I need an vision check, 8know I'm going to need a new pair, and more than likely it will be the same again. Mind you I have seen the Rayban Meteor, they look nice too. Wayfarers as well have a longer arm, I've a big head so they are about the best fit.

My main reason for needing transitions is motorcycling when in India. Have been caught out wearing shades during the day and obviously there is then a problem when and if one stays out too long; and at dusk, when the midges come out, eye wear is also essential; hence my original question concerning transitions. BM, you should be able to put plain transitions into a pair of your own frames for around £70.00; optical adjustments would cost a little extra.
