Student upgrades

Was just wondering what creams people would recommend to get on the student budget. I was grateful to receive donations from Doughnut operator and blademonkey (mainly hard soaps which i love) and have since become addicted. But i just got a cella off eBay and was wondering if other creams are recommended by people.

If people are every clearing stuff out, I will happily do some PIF as it adds up pretty quick from just looking around.

Cheers SS

Boots Cool Cologne cream and Boots Shaving Stick are other options. Each costs less than £2.

+1 on the Speick and Palmolive though. Top performers!

Being a student myself I can understand how hard it can be to get decent Shaving products at reasonable prices, I would say look at the soaps for sale in the forum here, some good quality hard soaps that will last you a long time, I've grown my collection by getting good deals here and how I think I have enough soap to last until the end of my PhD

Creams Id say Palmolive, which you can find quite easily in supermarket for about £2.

But consider shaving soaps too. Keep an eye out for Kent soap on amazon, which will last you a long time.

@SteveD out of curiosity, what are you doing a PhD in?

Hi @Studentshave,

I love Cella; good stuff and lasts, a +1 from me also for he Speick, I picked some up when visiting Berlin, I think Connaught shaving may sell, possibly Amazon.

I wished that I started DE shaving when I was a student, especially when I stop and think how much I used to spend on carts and shaving gels.

The DE blades and wet shaving soaps/creams will generally last longer than carts and gel from a can, plus you should be spending less (in theory). You may find with the cash you save you can start experimenting.

Proraso (Green) is also good stuff, as ever YMMV.

All the best

3p is similar to cella and is supposed to be good.

Any ot the Vitos croaps. I've only used the red version. It is an excellent, inexpensive staple product. You can get it in various quantise from 100g to 1kg from £3.49 to £11.99 at gemstone trading.
There is a forum discount code, which I can't quite remember at this moment , but I'm sure one of the fine gentleman of the forum will help out with.

Which Cella did you get? Was it in a tube or in a tub? If the latter then it's a croap. Good cheap croaps for not a huge amount include Vitos Red & Green (around £12 for a kilo brick), 3P (which is about £16), the TFS Almond one is supposed to be pretty good as well and it's £11 for a kilo brick.

I really like the Lea Cream, which is on sale at Connaught (as are my suggestions above) for a 250g tube for £3.90, and the Palmolive Menthol for £3.60 which is truly superb, easily my favourite cream. I've not tried the Vitos Cream but many seem to swear by it, and it's very cheap again 500ml for £10?

If you're looking for something which'll last a long time and doesn't cost too much, I can't think of much better than the Tabac and Speick shaving sticks, Tabac 100g for £4.50 and Speick 50g for £4.20. Palmolive stick for 75p is a classic as well, probably my most used soap of all.

I have purchased a few good soaps/creams off shpock. I got a bargain tub (unused) of Cyril R Salters Citrus for £2. Absolutely brilliant. Do some hunting.
