Strop

Do we have a strop section ?

Anyway, just a bit curious about a strop I seen on ebay, I have no interest in buying it, but it is the first time I have seen such a item advertised, it is a dubl duck 50/50, 50% russian and 50% shell.
I thought russian was a process applied to shell leather, and shell leather is the fibrous layer under the horse skin. I'm a wee bit confused.....tho this is a common occurrence :)

You are right about the shell and the Russian tan. 50/50 Doesn't make sense, unless it's two layers (two separate strops).

Shell strops are usually light draw strops, pricey, good example is Kanoyama strops.

Russian tan strops have a heavier draw, maybe because they use an oil tanning process. Fairly common.
