I have been using this for quite a while now, the service is a good one for a freebie.I can put up with the voices of the really annoying spotify staff who come on to tell you how great the fee based service is.I got a message from them today telling me that from now on I can only listen to a track for a maximum of 5 times.Shame that they have gone down this route IMO. I can't see me using it as much as I have been.I definitely can't see me forking out for a subscription.Anyone else using it?

Yeah, I rarely listen to much music but when I do I use Spotify. A friend of mine has the paid service and recommended the free version to me, it's enough for me.
I also won't be bothering with a paid subscription, I'll stick to Youtube probably or not bother with music at home. Shame that, it was quite good.

Try Grooveshark, same kind of thing and as far as I know doesn't have any restrictions yet.

If there's music I want to get as mp3 (and "own" rather than stream) then I use Audio Hijack Pro to record directly from Spotify onto my Mac.

There's lots of music I've paid for (sometimes more than once - LP, cassette and cd) and other stuff I want to try-before-I-buy and this works well. Several times I've then gone on to fork out real money for the song or album - I try not to steal.

Ollie you thief!!!!

Grooveshark looks pretty good.Seems to have some of the stuff Spotify didn't.

I've been a fan of Spotify for a long time now, using the free service. I am a bit miffed about the changes, but I use it a lot, so should I really grudge paying £4.99/month?? Reckon next time we have some friends round I'll start the subscription.

So next year then...

£9.99 a month for access to all that music? C'mon, it's hardly breaking the bank! It's less than the cost of a few pints a month, or the cost of 30 fags.

I coughed up for premium when I got my Android phone and wanted to use it with Spotify. Thought I'd try it for a few months and then stop, but it's just such a fabulous resource that I'm still paying.

Yep, if I had a fancy phone I'd probably go for that option, but I don't so the cheaper one is for me. When I was in my teens I would buy two or three albums a week, sometimes more. That was quite a chunk out of my meagre disposable income back then. A fiver a month is little in comparison.

I've just subscribed. They are clever. I'm sure they collaborate with the advertisers to make them as annoying as possible. Some shitty Trainline ad was the last straw.
