And my theme for last night was 'Viz'20180914_122704.jpg

Biffa Bacon - Colonial General
Terry Fuckwitt - Schick Proline (Please note just the one blade this time just to evidence I am not a Fuckwitt all the time)
Luvvie Darling - Muhle synthetic in a delightful butterscotch finish
Eight Ace - OSP Chypre
Raffles the Gentleman thug - ADP Colonia Club

So last night was all about returning to trial a Schick Proline line in the General and curbing my enthusiasm of using two blades together which resulted in an unmitigated disaster. But I do add not preplanned and more through stupidity. Hence Viz which survives on a diet of stupidity. Life would be glum without it though.

I am not great at face lathering and so my mixing bowl came in the form of a Premier Inn cup. Perhaps face lathering might have been easier. Anyhow I did manage to whip up a very useful dollop of cream but to be honest it would be difficult not to with OSP. Their creams remain in my number one spot.

Luvvie Darling did a great job of splattering Eight Ace over my face as Luvvie always does.

Anyone have £1.49 they could loan me?

And on to the acid test. Yup, a single blade in the General really does deliver a far more pleasant shaving experience. The Schick is an excellent blade and very similar in feel and performance to the Kai Captain. It would be Splitting bristles to divide the two. Overall I do tend to get the impression there are no real bad SE blades as so far I have yet to meet any duffers and they all deliver wonderful results. No tugging, no rough shaves and no irritation. Except on those occasions one thinks multi blade razors are the way to go. Very happy here and happy because I eat lard.

The usual Cade aftershave balm gives that wonderful glowing sheen to my face while the ADP leaves its blissful scent wafting around my person. I was proud to get in to the elevator which is far more than I could say an hour earlier after a 13 hour shift on the river.

So a wonderful shave and so smooth I would be high on the list for San and Trace.

Don't be soft have a fight

Having only just posted last night's shave I find myself with a bit of time on my hands so for this evening my theme was 'Blood curdling monsters'

20180914_170111.jpg

Dracula - Ikon B1 SB
Bride of Dracula - Polsilver Lodz
Dr Frankenstein - Muhle synthetic
The Wolfman - OSP Chypre
The Mummy - Floris Santal
The creature from the Black Lagoon - John Masters organic body wash

I must admit that having loaned out some shaving hardware out to @dave79 (And a pleasure to do so) the one thing I did miss was the Ikon SB. So tonight I dedicate my shave to the amount of blood it managed to extract from his person.

As I get more and more in to this shaving malarkey what constitutes a great razor becomes more and more difficult to define. With my recent foray in to SE's I thought this is the ultimate shave I can have without pushing barriers. And then I keep going back to the twin Timeless razors and thinking 'hmmmm may be not' and then this blood producing monster arrives back on my doorstep and makes me weep in joy.

I recall my first run out with this razor and initial thoughts went down the road of 'fuck this'. Then after several months of being scared shitless to even look at it a foolish return brought one of the best shaves I had ever had and it went from being redundant to being a regular team player.

Well made and quite light for an all SS razor I find it can be very Slick in use. This is once one has mastered the fact it needs a shallow angle of approach and a delicate deft touch. Otherwise blood comes as a prerequisite.

Due to its shallow base plate this is a razor which allows for very precise positioning. Unlike one or two razors I can think of where I am never quite so sure where the blade is. The Ikon allows one to get right up under the nose (a bit like me) and anywhere else for that matter. In essence it turns out very neat results.

I am happy to say that with the usual army of present cream and brush (limited as away working) this was once again a brilliant smooth, blood free shave with wonderful grin factor. Now I have the better of the SB I wouldn't expect lesser.

An absolute peach of a razor and highly recommended from this end.

With a shave as smooth as David Niven it was only fitting that an equally as smooth fragrance was the order of the evening and Floris Santal it was. One meal, a couple of hours strolling with a couple of beers thrown in for good measure and the scent remains as strong as when first used. Lasts longer than many a marriage.

A very nice evening and I can now sit down and relax knowing in the morning I shall wake up still smelling as fresh as the start of the day and as smooth as many a baby's bottoms will wake up feeling.

Have a great evening one and all

Ps. John Masters body wash, one great purchase from the TK Maxx sale for £4.

Pre shave: Warm shower and Nivea face wash
Razor: Schick Adjustable
Blade: NOS Schick Twin - Dutch (#10)
Soap: Fine Lavender Pour Homme
Brush: Maseto 30mm Silvertip
Bowl: Korium
Post shave: Alum block, cold water splash and Thayer's Cucumber witch hazel
AS: Lab Series Balm

I think this blade is reaching its useful limit, result was still good, normally only need 2 passes with this combination but a 3rd pass was needed, but no irritation.
