SOTD : Saturday 8th September - Friday 14th September 2018.

SOTD 13 September 2018 - for those old enough to remember, Space 1999 Day :)

Pre-shave: Warm shower, Musgo Real Classic Glycerin Oil Soap, cold water splash followed by Proraso (White) Pre Shave Cream.
Soap: Cella Crema da Barba AllOlio Di Mandorla.
Brush: Simpsons The Duke 2 Pure Badger.
Bowl: Aesop.
Razor: Karve Plate E.
Blade: Wilkinson Sword Classic (Day 1).
Post: Floid Vigoroso.

First shave with the Karve E plate - I was not sure what to expect, so I decided to load up with a Wilkinson Classic blade as I find that quite mild and forgiving, a major part of that decision being I have run out of Gillette Silver Blues - if I had some, I would have loaded up with that so to make a meaningful comparison.

A 2 pass shave WTG face and neck, followed by a XTG face abd ATG neck - BBS finish.

One minor problem, I don't know what happened, I cut myself with the corner of the blade, that overhangs from the razor head. No biggie, alumn block sorted it out, however I was more annoyed that I got a little careless and let it happen in the first place.

The E plate is just as smooth as the C plate - it did not feel more efficient during the shave. However, afterwards the shave did feel a little closer. Hard to tell the difference between C and E, for me, given that I used significantly different blades with both plates.

Again a big shout out for Cella and Floid Vigoroso - a lovely combination.

All the best,

Chris

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Rudy Vey Shavemac Silvertip Badger
Cream: Vitos Tobacco
Razor: Pils
Blade: Vintage NOS Wilkinson Sword Light Brigade (4)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel / CRSW Aftershave Lotion

Nice three pass shave. The Vitos cream is good stuff.

+1 on the Vitos; excellent cream.

Absolutely fantastic it's so bloody smooth as a

while shaving, I find the D base plate is far smoother shave than the Rockwell R5 and R6

...terrific, thank you...got one on order...

Today's SOTD:

Duke 2
Hone 15a with Lord Classic blades
Chiselled Face Summer Storm & Castle Forbes Cedarwood and Sandalwood
Wickhams Citrus Musk AS Balm
King of Shaves Pre-Shave Oil

It was certainly an interesting mix of scents with the Summer Storm and Castle Forbes combing to give something reminiscent of a dark and slightly dank winter woodland walk.

I'm finally getting some great shaves with the Hone. It's a bit picky about the blades it works best with but with the right combination it works very nicely indeed. Today's combination isn't the best but it gave a more than adequate result. [emoji41]

Thursday

Vitos Super Red
Semogue 1470
Face lather
Feather Artist Club SS Kamisori
Schick Proline P
Alum
Thayer's Cucumber and Aloe Vera
Fine Fresh Vetiver

A stunning shave today. 2 passes would have done; but a third ATG was worth the effort. Close, smooth and cool from the menthol in Mr. Fine's fine splash. He may have increased the price; but I think it's worth it. Tempted to try the American Blend, to see if it's as good as the Fresh Vetiver and the Platinum.

American Blend is the strongest and long lasting of the Fine aftershaves I've tried. We're talking all day for longevity. I'm sure you already know but if not it's based on YSL Rive Gauche.

Prep: Warm rinse with Nivea Sensitive Face Wash then Proraso Pre Shave cream Sandalwood and Shea Butter
Cream: Executive Shaving Company Natural
Brush: Executive Shaving Medium Jock synthetic
Razor: Merkur 34c
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium (2)
Post: Cold rinse, Thayers Witch Hazel with Cucumber followed by Brut aftershave then BartsBalm Amber and Moroccan Jasmine.

Some new additions arrived today with Proraso pre shaves. I followed my usual prep but changed my usual Eucalyptus and Menthol with the red Sandalwood and Shea Butter. A more relaxing scent from the red.

I rotated back to my 34c which still had the Polsilver blade from a shave earlier in the week. The blade performed well again though I still think the Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless suits my skin and the razor better.

The ES Natural shave cream performed faultlessly with a good 3 pass shave. A minor lapse in concentration during pickups had me applying a bit too much pressure as I placed the blade against my skin and I gave myself a little nick. A wee touch with a pencil had the blood stopped quickly, and a kick up the backside to myself!

A close finish with the Thayers, Brut and BartsBalm giving a smooth and supple feel.

A good shave.

Have a great night folks. My weekend has officially started! [emoji1360]

First outing for my new Ross Giles shave bowl and not disappointed I still like my bideford bowl but the addiction of the handle and extra width on Giles bowl gives me that extra security that it's not about to fly out my hand due to exuberant lather making brush style lol
And the first try of Gillette 7 o'clock black must say quite impressed with the result on three days of growth

Usual prep hot shower face wash
Soap sample Stirling Glastonbury great scent if your into patchouli
Ross Giles bowl
Brush RazoRock BC silvertip plissoft syn
Razor Muhle Rocca r96
Blade Gillette 7 o'clock black
Alum and cold water rinse
