I've tried to like it but I just don't get on with the 830. Fortunately an excellent lather from the Sig Soap helped this shave recover. This is unlikely to make any sense but the Mamucium feels and smells healthy to me.

PreShave: Warm to hot water, most from the boiled kettle some from the tap
Cream: TOBS Platinum Collection
Brush: Kent BK8
Bowl: My recycled T&H cream bowl
Razor: r41
Blade Astra Platinum (7)
Post Shave: Alum

Fragrance: Floris 71/72

Two passes with the r41, for a smooth shave. The r41 is an aggressive razor, and I’m loath to use it daily. I think a couple of times a week is enough. Have a good day (and end of the week), folks.

What are your reasons for not getting on with the 830? I've come to appreciate I prefer brushes that keep their shape of their knot more than the ones that bloom out.

I don't think it works particularly well (for me) as a face lathering brush. It's lovely and soft but struggles to hold lather. Maybe it would work well as a bowl lathering brush?

In all seriousness, I envy the Scotts for so many reasons:
  • The sheer glory and beauty of the highlands and the lowlands
  • The level of real national pride
  • Nicola Sturgeon ...I won't even mention her eggs that are supposed to be the finest and rarest of all caviars
  • Billy Connelly, Danny Boyle, Kevin Bridges, Rory Bremner, and...most of all...Ronni Ancona
  • Archie Gemmill's goal against the Dutch in 1978 World Cup
  • Single malt whisky...the only drink that can be called 'scotch'
  • Haggis, neeps and tatties (enjoyed after getting rat-arsed on the banks of Loch Lomond)
  • The West Highland Way
  • Connor McCloud
  • Sean Connery (but he's obviously Spanish so doesn't really count)
I could go on...but then I just remembered the midges and I lost my train of thought...Oh yes...Scotland and the Scots...I envy you everything but your weather...wtf is up with that??????:oops::oops::oops:
Let's not forget to mention that Ian Fleming saw fit that James Bond was Scottish, which makes Sean Connery to date the only accurate Bond.

I'm pleased you're given us a run down of how you're getting on with the R41. Some of the others that entered would've just disappeared until the next PIF.
