SOTD: Saturday 8 th - Friday 14 th June 2019

Ha ha ha - ironic - in Boris' new Britain - you will be in the resurrected 'First Fleet' - given your fifth column activities - you might want to steal a loaf of bread or promulgate foment against the Queen - just to help you on your way. @TomG - careful what you wish for - he could be your neighbour sooner than you think. Hopper - fair enough - one of my favourite paintings is by him - 'Nighthawks' - yours - I.

First shave with the new Edwin Jagger all stainless 3one6 razor. First impressions... it is quite light for an all stainless steel razor, and it is beautifully finished. It is not a stainless steel version of the DE89. A smooth shave in two incident free passes. I would rate it in the mid aggressive category, more assertive than the Game Changer .84 and less than the R41, nearly a MÜHLE Rocca level of performance, but a completely different design. Good work Edwin Jagger.

Cold Water Shave
Pears Glycerine Soap
Williams Mug Shaving Soap
Omega 10051 Boar Brush
Ever-Ready HFT (E-Bar) with a Gem SS PTFE Blade
Witch Hazel
Palmer's Fragrance Free Moisturiser
Williams Aqua Velva AS

I have a few days off (Working the weekend) but it was an early start and so far it has been a very good day.
1) The Motor bike passed it's MOT test
2) I found a pharmacy with UK Ingram Cream and cleared their stock.
3) Popped into the Antique Shop beside the Pharmacy and found today's razor. An Ever-Ready HFT in immaculate condition and it cost me only £4.

Today's shave was just perfect. 3 mild but incredibly efficient passes for a BBS finish:)

That's not a good day. That's an excellent day!

Bravo on the fine work. IMO, finding a shaving bargain in a 'real' shop is far more rewarding than making one online.

13/6/19

Brush - Zenith B07
Soap - Palmolive Cream
Razor - Yaqi DOC
Blade - Silver Star
Post - Witch Hazel
Balm - Nivea Cooling Kick
AS - Akcay Tobacco

In today's shave, I lost about 7-9 bristles from my Zenith B07, surprising as I'd literally not lost a single one before today! Boar brushes seem to have a mind of their own, which is why I seem to like using them so much.
Pleased I gave the Silver Star another run out, it's a blade I'd struggled to get any kind of decent results out but for today's shave I put it into a different razor (usually try it in a Tech) and it worked very well for the 2 passes (with a bit of clean up). The Silver Star blade is one I'd struggled with before hand but I think I'd been using it with the wrong razor/wrong angle or so and blamed the blade instead of correcting my technique.

Pre shave prep: Pears Transparent original
Brush: Yaki Moka Express 24mm
Soap: P&B Star Noir
Razor: Blackland Dart
Blade: NOS Perma Sharp Supreme (3)
Post Shave: Alum Block, cold water splash, homemade Witch Hazel with added oils
Balm: Barts Sandalwood Balm & Lotion
Aftershave: OSP Neroli

20190613_125042-1.jpg

Maiden shave with the Dart, a really well made razor with a nice weight, I was expecting it to be lighter as its name suggests, although I am very happy with the weight of it, my kind of thing.
A great combination of soap and Brush today and after a little blooming and a 30 second swirl the Moka had picked up a lot of soap, mixed in the bowl easily enough slickness for 4 passes.
During the initial first pass i had a lot of blade feel i am sure it is down to my technique and it will take a couple of shaves to get this right, i am glad i did not place a new blade in as the Perma sharp on 3rd shave was very forgiving, i knew the shave was close and thought i had caught myself at least twice, luckily i got away with it.
The lather was a great cushion and just as well, as the pronounced blade feel carried on throughout the shave. I am going to need smooth blades until i get used to the correct angle.
3 Passes completed without incident - Phew. A very close shave, only slight indications from the block and a rub of witch hazel.
I rubbed in a small amount of E45 and let it settle, then the "Face Medic" arrived with the wonderful Barts Balm and Lotion.
A splash of the fantastic OSP Neroli, a favourite of mine and a good match with the P&B Soap, i feel great.
Glass smooth, feeling good and smelling clean and fresh.
Have a great afternoon All.

Greetings,

Belated birthday shave...

A new shave set up to start the weekend...Second outing of the gem OC micromatic, i find it incredible that only after my second shave with this very assertive vintage lady how comfortable i feel shaving with it..I've said it before treat any razor with respect, learn your technique, gain your shaving confidence and you'll be rewarded with some sublime shaves.

It's been a long time since i've used the humble Arko Shave stick, and forgot how much of a good slick protective lather it provides. I wet the end under the cold water tap then rub it directly in to my stubble then lathered up with my damp but 'not wet' voluptuous omega 48 adding water to the tips of the brush to build the lather to how i like it and in-between each pass, leaving a wonderful post shave feel to my face.

I take into consideration why some people have a love / hate opinions on the scent of arko & derby shave sticks, however great performing soaps they maybe, people can't shave with them purely because of their scent. To my nose both soaps have a 'Clean scent' which i don't have any issues with besides that, once i've done my final cold water face rinse i find the scent has virtually disappeared. I count myself very fortunate to have a skin type that hasn't had a adverse-reaction to any of the shaving soaps and creams that i've used to date...One thing that is certain though, both of these humble shave sticks provide a acceptable slick protective lather for a very reasonable cost.

A comfortable 3 pass + pick ups near bbs smooth belated birthday shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a generous dollop of Aloe vera Gel.

My mature face is feeling super smooth, smelling devine, and is one day,and one year older.;)
;)

Enjoy the start of the weekend, ladies & gentlemen.

+11 on the Arko. Just discovered it after all this time - great stuff. See below...

Thursday afternoon

Arko squidged stick
RazoRock Disrupter 22mm synth
Face lather
Gillette No.88
Gillette Silver Blue
Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
4711 EdC

Outing #2 for the Arko. I wish I'd tried this stuff earlier; it really is good in terms of scent ( I know not everyone likes it). A lovely neroli which, as I predicted last night, sits well with the 4711 cologne. Its performance is good too.

I'm also enjoying this Gillette No.88: a very efficient razor which delivers well with a GSB.

I don't think I could shave every with cartridges and gels without looking like I'd used nitric acid instead of witch hazel. But with these set ups, every day presents no problems.

Thur 13th June

Cyril Salter / Maseto ED. 2band
P & B Pall Mall
Mongoose B3
Schick Proline [ 4 ]
Floid Vigoroso A/S Lotion

Missed my usual morning Shave and had it some 7hours later than usual. With a good lather and using short deliberate strokes, the Razor /Blade combo was very smooth and efficient at removing the extra growth. In fact the Shave which seemed short lived, was better in terms of finish quality than recent ones which have been very good.

Thursday 13th June

Pears Glycerine Soap
Blue's Goat's Milk Shaving Soap
Zenith Synthetic Brush
Gem HFT (G Bar) with a Gem SS PTFE Blade (#2)
Witch Hazel
Heno de Pravia Moisturiser
Hai Karate AS

It was the E Bar yesterday....so today it had to be the G Bar. It may be just my imagination but the G Bar seemed slightly milder/smoother. Perhaps that was because the blade had been broken in?.......anyway....the result was the same.
The Blue's Soap is good but prices have increased since my initial purchase so I don't think I will reorder. It costs as much if not more as a MWF refill so it is a no brainer

3 passes for a perfect result
