Prep: Pears soap face wash
Soap: MWF face lathered
Brush: Yaqi Moka Express 2 band Badger
Razor/Blade: Merkur Futur/Gillette Nacet (2)
Post: Alum and cold water rinse
ASL: SV Cubebe SE
ASB: 1912 Classic

A completely different shave today with a much more aggressive razor than the ASD2 I used yesterday, despite having it set at 2.5, 2.5, 1, for a 3 pass BBS shave.
The Moka Express brush has become my favourite; there is a thread in another forum as to whether or not an £80 brush is better than a cheaper brush. I have a £75 brush, but I think this £25 Yaqi is better and I'm awaiting delivery of another, as a spare - from Aliexpress.

Sat 14 SOTD
Soap Colonel Conk Lime
Bowl Green Nubs
Brush Yaqi 24mm Mountain Lake
Razor Shavette
Blade Euromax Platinum
Postshave Alum + Thayers Cucumber + Clubman GentsGin
Load from soap and lather in the bowl. Good lather and nice scent.
Shave with razor and blade is really smooth and not too much of a bite. 3pass WTG, XTG/ATG + ATG. Used really light touch especially for the atg and no issue on the neck. Somehow caught some minute weepers on jawline.
Alum feedback was significant. Irritation feel but quickly soothed by Thayers.
CCS result today. Rating 8/10

16 March 2020 - morning:
Still fretting about the fact that I haven't yet mastered the difficult areas of the face and neck with the DE razor.
For today I thought I use my usual Lidl Cien disposable razor (last new 5-blade) just to see whether I can achieve a BBS result which I haven't in the past. Using all the knowledge picked up for DE shaving I certainly did. And I must say whilst doing so it felt quite uncomfortable and finishing off with alum it was stinging a few areas, but no cuts. Of course there is little weight to a disposable so you compensate by applying extra pressure. The lesson here is, if I'm not mistaken, practice, practise, practise with the DE razor.

Bold = change from last shave
Brush: Badger no name
Razor: Lidl Cien
Blade: Lidl Cien

Pre-shave: Nuage Shaving Oil
Shave Soap: LEA stick
Alum Block: Ajanta
After Shave Balm: Bustamente

Prep: Bath
Pre: Proraso Red
Soap: MWF bowl lathered in QShave Scuttle
Brush: Yaqi 2 band badger Moka Express
Razor/Blade: Rex Ambassador/ Astra SP (1)
Post: Alum and cold water rinse
ASL: SV Cubebe SE
ASB: 1912 classic

My first shave with the Rex. I was looking forward to using this and hoping that it wasn't going to be an anti-climax.
I chose an Astra blade for its first run and set the Ambassador dial at 2.5 for a wonderful 3 pass shave - dialling it down to 1 for ATG in the moustache area. BBS finish with no cleanup passes needed.
It‘s a similar length to the Merkur Progress 500, but heavier and a much grippier handle. The flatter head makes shaving under the nose very very easy.
In summary: no buyer's remorse here!

SOTD 13th March
Pre - Proraso white
Brush - Omega S brush
Soap - Phoenix and Beau Solaris sample
Razor - Merkur 37c slant
Blade - Gillette Winner #4
After - Musgo Real

Theme for the shave was "Back to what you know", so I went back to my wonderful, trusty and comfortable Merkur slant - and wow, it was like putting a comfy pair of slippers back on. Pre shave was usual warm water with Proraso, great lather whipped up by the slightly scritchy Omega brush and the P&B soap sample provided plenty of lather for 3 passes. I'm still trying to assess how many good Shaves I can get with the Winner blades. 4th use of this and its still going strong. 2 and half days stubble was no match for the Winner paired with the Slant! So glad I've brought this back into my rotation, efficient, smooth and compatible with so many blades I've tried. Musgo Real is such a good balm with a scent I like and never really found before in a balm. So nice to get back to some products (everything apart from Winner blade) that got me into enjoying DE shaving. Good day to you all, stay safe.
