SOTD : Saturday 7th April - Friday 13th April 2018.

Sotd - Tuesday evening - 10/4/18.

Razor - Rockwell (2)
blade - Polsilver SI (3)
brush - Semogue 2000 boar
soap - NSS Lemon, Basil & Mandarin tallow
post - witch hazel
a/s - Myrsol Limon
balm - NSS Facial Serum Neroli.

Result - sweet. Two day's growth coming off.

Tonight's shave mostly influenced by - and an antidote to - my work day - wet, cold, dark, pishy & crap weather in Glasgow. Out in it all day - oh and my main work Goretex jacket appears to be leaking from a shoulder seam. The final indignity. So if Spring refuses to turn up in west central Scotland we can recreate it in the den. Citrus shave ahoy. It's a long time - more fool me - since I last used a NSS (Nanny's Silly Soap) product - I'm pleased to note that Sharon is still making top end gear. These were the very first artisan soaps I tried - moving on in my shave journey from the more mainstream offerings - all those years ago. I enjoyed this cream very much - it ticked all the performance boxes - the scent was lovely - I could smell all the main elements in turn. Bright and uplifting - with the slight spiciness of the basil. Nice. Tallow based to boot. Check out the company website if this sounds good to you - Sharon offers several different different formulations in her range. I will be - I'd forgotten how good it is. Thanks - @Wayne Pritchard for gifting me the soap and reminding me of NSS. So - further adventures in Rockwell land - after the last experience I did go down to the number two plate. I think for me it will be important to properly match the aggressiveness of it to the amount of beard I'm taking off. The razor was effortless tonight - mild but incredibly effective - it just seems to deal with my problem spots with ease. Intuitive in use - no fumbling for the correct angle. I was slightly surprised to find that the plates are not linear in their adjustment - i.e it isn't 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6 - they run 1/3, 2/4 and 5/6. I presume that there is a good engineering reason for this. It's still my new favourite thing. The final element that made the shave so good was the Semogue 2000 - the behemoth - it's just such fun to use. Massive - slap it around your face, you can clean up later - and it has broken in much quicker than my 1305. The bristles are splitting nicely and given the loft, it's never going to be floppy. So - job done - peaceful dolphin smooth - enjoy yours - I.

Wickham 1912 Parma Violet
YaqI 2 Band Finest Marble Handle
Rockwell 6C plate 5
Voskhod (3 or 4?)
Lime witch hazel
4711 Aftershave

I lost count how many times I had used this blade. I picked up a few weepers though, which is unusual when using the Rockwell razor.
My YaqI 2 Band has yet to shed a single hair. It's tips are soft and it holds lots of lather.
Wickham soap, as usual, is reliable. Easy to load and lather. Plenty of protection and slickness. (although it can't protect against a blade that's past it's best)
4711 To finish. It does it's job very well but it's a shame the scent doesn't linger for long.

Wednesday 11th April

Shower with Blue Power Carbolic Soap
Vitos Pre Shave Cream
Karo Classic Cream
Yaqi Sagrada Familia Tuxedo Synthetic Brush
Merkur 37C with a Supermax Titanium Blade
Alum Block and Rinse
Aloe Vera Gel
Epsilon Blue Mediterranean AS

I just love the smell of Carbolic Soap.....it brings back so many good memories of growing up on a farm!

3 passes for a wonderful shave:)

(No photo today - I don't want pictorial evidence of the gel!)

Gillette Gel/Wilkinson Sword Classic/Bic CrPt (5)

And the Bic makes its fifth shave on one edge with some style. There's a little bit of scratchiness on the neck, but a very accomplished shave nevertheless. The Bic has just barged its way into my top 3 of blades, although I've still got a lot of blades left to try.

Pre: Warm water face wash
Brush: Semogue 2000 Boar
Soap: MWF
Razor: Igor (on loan)
Blade: Gem SS
Post: Warm then cold water rinse, Pashana AS

Well it had to be done, I cranked Igor up to max, and what a shave!
If Igor was made of a heavier metal I think it would surpass anything out there and I include the Cobra in this.
The lightness means that a teeny bit of pressure needs to be applied in the tougher areas, if it was a modicum heavier it would sail through this stubble as it does everywhere else.
Fantastic shave from a fantastic razor.
Happy Shaving one and all.

Brush - Omega 80265
Soap - Vitos Red Coco
Razor - Yaqi DOC
Blade - SuperMax BDP
Post - Superdrug Forest Fresh

I had 4 days worth of growth as I'd picked up an in grown from the last shave which had resulted in a somewhat painful spot. It been a while since I hadn't acquired 4 days worth of growth and I had forgotten how much my face itched and the post shave feeling of being smooth again was quite simply divine!

Great write up as always, Iain. Ah - the Semogue 2000. My first porker, and what a soap destroyer it is - great brush.
