SOTD : Saturday 6th June - Friday 12th June 2020

The last day of this week's SOTD and with it a shave themed 'Lord Above the Tie and his final adventure'

IMG_20200612_190949.jpg

Lord Above the Tie - ATT SE1
Lord Below the Tie - Kai Captain
Sir Barrel the brush - Gentleman's Groom Room whiskey barrel
Baron Von Boltonstein - Signature Hibernia
Earl Trufitt and Countess Hills - Grafton aftershave lotion
The Duke of Scent - Banana Republic Neroli Woods

'Captain Kai I presume?'

Further prattling from the typewriter

So the adventure enters its finale as Lord Above the Tie makes his final outing. After spending the week kind of in two minds between love and want to love this was a final chance for the SE1 to show what it is capable of. A second mutinous outing with Captain Kai as I couldn't be bothered my arse to report on the first one. Do you sense mutiny in the shaving ranks?

I never really thought the Schick Proline was the best of choices on a strange razor and more so for a strange shaver. I also thought the SE1 had a touch more sense of aggressiveness than my favourite General and needed something to calm it down. The Kai being the perfect antidote.

The Baron of Bolton @BrianH laid the foundations with his Hibernia and a bit of assistance from the Groom Rooms wee barrel brush. A super lather act and ticks in the right boxes. This Grey/White knot is winning my heart. And in consideration I don't have one that is quite an achievement.

Or one of them either

Right, to the nitty gritty. In many ways the ATT feels almost exactly the same as the General, except it still has a bit of bite in it and the delivery is not quite as smooth. Likewise with the finish. Without a doubt it has done a fantastic job and delivered a very close shave, but my skin is left with a slight tingle which the Colonial simply doesn't. I am not being biased here (well okay, yes I am) but the general is a very hard act to beat in its original form. This weekend should be interesting as it is time to bring the new Colonial General V 'whatever bloody number it is' in to the rotation and see if the hype is a reality. I am expecting great things.

So overall the ATT SE1 still leaves me a little perplexed and I remain with the same love/want to love relationship. A great razor for what it cost (in comparison to the Colonial or Vector etc) and I can see it making many folk happy for a lifetime. I can see it as a possible purchase in the future but I have other 'wants' on the list before I even think should I, shouldn't I?

The Trufitt Grafton aftershave balm is proving itself to be a great purchase and it does help take some of the sting out of the shave. As a finishing touch I really must say the Banana Republic Neoli Woods is up there as one of my top scents. For £25 an absolute bargain and I see the local Superdrug have some in stock. I feel a visit on the books in the morning. A stunning fragrance for the non-existent British summer where most of it can be washed off in the rain.

Have a great weekend all you people of the forum and I wish you all good health during these times. On another note my son is recovering really well. Still a bit weary, but getting there.

Did someone mention where are the Japanese metal ladies? Very obliged to give you a band I don't think I have thrown at you before. Destrose

The Baron of Bolton sounds impressive! Daughters usually call me something else!
