Friday - had to go to a funeral - thankfully my beard growth allows me to shave the night before and still look fine the next morning. Great - avoid the anxiety of drawing blood - when it matters that you don't do that. I only own one suit - but it was an expensive one - you don't want to be dripping claret on it. Job done. Saturday - much more relaxed - the Lavanda cream - is possibly my favourite lavender scent - nice and spicy - medicinal. Slickness way beyond the price point. Worth a go - if you like that sort of thing. I smeared a bit of it into the knot of the damp Semogue brush - lather abounding! I don't use this brush that often - but it has a nostalgic air for me - my first silvertip. When I decided that - perhaps 9 or 10 years ago - that 'proper' shaving was for me - moving on from crap starter gear - I ordered it and the Semogue 1305 boar - both still in use. The HD bit in the name means - high density - faintly ridiculous compared to some of the knots I have bought subsequently - but I still love it. If you are in the mood for a wall of super soft floppy badger - this is the one.

Talking of nostalgia -

'which was followed up with an excellent beer drinking session in Ma Cameron's and the Prince of Wales'

@Ferry-shave - C. - I'm delighted to learn that these pubs still exist. I spent many a happy night in both of them. What news of the Lemon Tree? At the time my best friend went to study in Aberdeen - I used to go up and see him - years ago - realistically about thirty years ago - I'd hitch hike up from Glasgow - saving valuable money on the bus ticket to be spent on beer. My favourite pub in those days was the Blue Lamp - does it still exist?

Happy shaving yours all - I.

@Digimonkey Hi mate; the Blue Lamp still there - looks as if the orginal sign is still up :) Never made it close to the Lemon Tree this trip. I was a student 1990 - 1994 and again 1994 -1995: happy days, although I wish on hindsight that I started DE shaving then.

The Blue lamp was a belter of a pub when I was a student; many happy hours spent there - after the Library :)

SOTD Sunday 08 and Monday 09 January 2018

Pre-shave: Hot shower, cold water splash and Wright's Cold Tar Soap.
Cream: L'Occitane Cade.
Brush: Muhle Purist, Black Silvertip Fibre Shaving Brush.
Bowl: Little Wren Pottery.
Razor: Muhle Rocca Jet (version 3).
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (Day 1 and 2).
Post: D R Harris Skin tonic, followed by Ibiza Aloe - Aftershave Aloe Vera.

On Sunday, after a lovely hike in Glen Doll, after returning home, decided to get out the Rocca Jet, as opposed to loading up the Feather with a new blade; a very good decision.

A 2 pass shave with the Rocca Jet, loaded with a Gillette Silver Blue (WTG and XTG) face and neck, I was BBS with no issues to report. This morning, I only had time for one pass, however, to be fair given how late in the day I shaved on Sunday (16:15) and the BBS result, a single pass did the job.

For me, I got the sense that you need to watch the angle with the Muhle Rocca - if you are careless, it will give some razor burn. As with the other Rocca's I have shaved with very good audible feedback and a reasonable amount of blade feel.

All the best,

Chris

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: M&F Brad Sears L7 Tigris Finest Badger
Soap: Stirling Lemon Chill
Razor: Feather AS-D2
Blade: Vintage NOS Wilkie Light Brigade (4)
Post: Thursday Plantation Tea Tree & Witch Hazel
Scent: APR Festivus P&C 2018 LE Splash

Pre Paste & Cut Perth Meet-up shave.
Lovely cooling mentholated lather from the Stirling soap. I am falling back in love with my AS-D2 - it is such a precise instrument, and with a sharp blade like the Light Brigade makes shaving so simple.
Three super-comfortable passes for a DFS+.
But no doubt, the star of the show was the APR Limited Edition P&C Festivus Splash. Made for the warm festive season in the Southern Hemisphere, and simply glorious! And the citrus notes matched the soap nicely.

+1 for the Feather AS-D2; I am falling in love with that razor again.

M Keramiek / APShaveCo SilkSmoke.
MÜHLE “Sea Buckthorn” shaving cream.
Seygus Zeppelin razor.
Kai Stainless (1).
MÜHLE “Sea Buckthorn” ASB.

First shave with the Seygus Zeppelin.
The short sides of the blade do not protrude, which is very pleasant when changing the blade.
Today only the "mild" side of the razor used - particularly comfortable with a nice smooth result.
