A new base from Strike Gold Shave called "Patriots". Based on the scent of Ultra Zest from Thierry Mugler, citrusy, fresh scent and performs great. Once again the Outlaw razor was a pleasure to use. I like the weight, balance and feel of the shave from this razor and the fit and finish is gorgeous. The splash from ES was very enjoyable and left my face feeling smooth as silk, even if I have no idea how the name of it is pronounced!
Looks like I’ve got another project. Someone else also said that. Will have to leave Oakmoss out though (EU Regs don’t allow it).
Which of the fragrances come through the most?
As they say watch this space.
Hi Brian, that's great news, thank you.
The scent profile : the fragrance opens with a clean fresh, youthful appeal of English and French lavender, topped with herbaceous peppermint and rosemary and Beramot gradually giving way to a subtle base of warm Oakmoss .
Top notes: Bergmot, peppermint, Rosemary.
Middle notes: English lavender, French lavender.
Base notes : Oakmoss
I hope this helps and wonder if you would be able to tell me how much Oakmoss EO I could put in once I have the soap and splash hopfuly thus getting around the regulations!
Pre- quick splash around the chops
Brush- Trafalgar t3
Soap- Tobs sandalwood
Razor- Merkur Futur
Blade- Gillette Rubie (1)
Post- Cold water rinse
A/S- PP Aventus
Quick 3 pass work shave today. Not used a Rubie for ages and enjoyed it. No cuts, nicks or irritation so that's always good. PP Aventus is very nice but not as good as the real deal which I have just run out of. Won't be rushing to buy another bottle at that price however.
Exactly the same ingredients as for yesterday's shave aside from the blade, which was a Treet Classic but today I used a new Treet Durasharp Yellow to try to compare both blades after reading the TYDS is being discontinued with the TC being remaining with Connaught's Paul saying his contact/wholesaler said the TC is the same blade as the TYDS.
Comparing blades from my experience is near enough impossible even if one uses two of the exact razors and shaves one side of their face with the same razor/different blade, my means of comparison is keeping all other variables fixed for consecutive days aside from the blade. Comparing yesterday and today's shaves they were both excellent, I'd say there might be a difference between both blades but it's not the most significant, I'd the TYDS is sharper than the TC, with the latter being a little smoother, I think the results of the shave might be a little closer with the TYDS.
A really great lather today with the Palmolive stick, I think it takes me a few lathers with any soap to once again dial in the right amount of soap and water.
