SOTD: Saturday 4th - Friday 10th. May 2019.

Fri 10th May

Omega 11137 boar
Arran Aromatics Bay Citrus
Alu. Hawk + S/S Handle
Schick Proline [ 3 ]
Massimo Dutti A/S Lotion

The little Hawk is an excellent Razor for me, very manoeuvrable and responsive to a light touch. With an excellent lather from the little used Bay Citrus, the Shave was most enjoyable being very smooth with what can only be described as a Face Stroker. With a nice splash of A/S my skin feels taut and refreshed. The Hawk really is a value for money Razor compared with others on the market.

Ayars (Bonnyman) Waterfall Lathering Bowl
Rooney Polo 2 Ivory Finest (28/60)
Sebum Gold shaving soap
Wolfman WR1-SB Antique Bronze/Darwin
Wilkinson 'Light Brigade' (13)
Sebum Gold serum
Trumper Portugal EdT (vintage)

This was my first use of the Sebum products. The soap required a lot of water and time to make adequate lather in the bowl. (This may differ with scuttle use.) The lather had excellent cushion and fairly good glide, and it left my skin feeling moisturized and quite smooth and soft. The serum felt greasy on my hands but seemed to be absorbed into my facial skin pretty well, and it further softened the skin. Since I rarely get any skin irritation, which is handled well by splash aftershaves, I'm not at all sure the serum is a necessity. I don't really like their musky fragrance very much, but that may change with time. Overall I was generally pleased with the results of the shave but not tremendously impressed, and I'm left thinking that for me the software is quite overpriced. But this was just a single use, and no doubt my views will be moderated with further experience over time. I'll comment more then.

Well today's shave featured a razor near and dear my heart but which doesn't get a lot love these days in my rotation. The Edwin Jagger 89lbl was my first DE and usually comes up when I need something comfortable and quick and today was no exception. Loaded up with a Rapira Swedish Steel and off to the shave races. The Rapira SS is not a blade I would normally go for and Astra SP normally go into this razor. Oh well...

Today's soap the hard working and vividly polarizing Tabac in shave stick form with the matching AS lotion. Went on well and with my trusty Omega boar whipped up a lather like no one's business! I only needed two passes and the stick is more than enough for the task. Slick, a lovely scent (for my beak anyway), and a joy to lather in a convenient travel package. Winner!

Two lovely passes and much like yesterday a DFS finish. Applied the AS lotion and though not my favourite scent it works...barely. Quick spritz of Bvlgari Man and all is right with the world again.

It is Friday and the weekend is upon us. Safe travels, take care and happy shaves all!

Friday SOTD

YaqI Chianti 24mm Synthetic
Noble Otter Monarch
Rockwell 6C R3
Gillette Silver Blue (3)
Arctic Kinesia Aftershave

My second use of this Noble Otter soap, and I must admit I'm impressed. The lather is very stable, slickness is the best I have known and it's scent is divine.
6C / Silver Blue combo worked a treat, effective and comfortable.

A delayed post but I wanted to include it as I used my travel kit, which some forum members have helped with!

I've not given my overnight kit a run out for some time but last Thursday I was in north England for the evening. Before dinner I had a quick shower and decided to have a quick shave too. The prep was my normal routine and I found a pack of GSB blades in my wash bag. I may have tried one of these blades last summer when I started my DE journey but soon after I found the 7 o'clock greens super stainless and they became my go to blade. However the GSB blade was bloody excellent (in a non-bloody way!). Smooth, effortless and a great shave. It worked really well in the wee Tech. I'll defo load my 6c with one of these blades over the coming week.

After an incident free 3 passes I realised I need to add some post shave products to my kit! A cold rinse followed by some Acqua Di Gio.

A lovely shave and great evening! [emoji1303]
