I tried out the 1948 Tech obtained recently, primarily ‘cos I love them; but also to see if there was any difference between this one and my American early war model, with the raised base plate and triangular slots.

To be honest, I didn't notice any qualitative difference. I got an outstanding shave. This one, as Tech aficionados will confirm (hopefully) has a flat base plate with rectangular slots and began to be produced circa 1948.

The Baskerville soap gave a great performance; and the Speick is contributing to a great post-shave feel.

After a rather harsh Shave with a Starling yesterday, that of today seemed incredibly smooth. Aided by a great lather from this rather neglected Dutch propriety soap, it was rather easy to get a nice close all round finish. I do wonder whether we neglect these rathcccer inexpensive soaps in favour of Artisan Soaps with their lovely label designs and the promise of wondrous scents. I have no problems getting good Shaves with MWF, Tabac , Vitos, Lea Classic , La Toja etc,

Arko has the reputation of being a great soap for beginners, I myself have been using the tub for a while and I find it's a soap I sometimes have results with, sometimes less so from experience I find it's a soap that has quite a narrow window between being too dry and over hydrated. Today was a day when my results with the soap were very good, managed to get the 'right' consistency.

The Yaqi Cobbed razor is one that I generally struggle with but today the results seemed to be pretty good, even though if I did pick up the one weeper but that was possibly down to the blade having one shave too many with it, the blade was done on the last shave. I'm really enjoying using the Souplex bakelite handle, it wasn't one I expected I could use with a modern head - the discovery of being able to use something I already had yet overlooked is quite pleasing.

A lovely shave with the Monsavon. Unfortunately my mindset is that this is a 'Holiday Soap'....so it isn't used as often as it should be.
3 passes for a perfect finish:)

Decided to try a sample today tobs platinum smells nice and lathered up great just like all the other tobs creams but I did get a bit irritation when putting the cream on for my second and third pass so glad I didn't buy the full tub shavedash has came to my rescue again apart from that I had a good shave im really liking this blade iv only ever tried one other treet blade that was the black beauty and I didn't like it I think il try some other carbon steel blades …………………………… Have a Good Day Shavers :)
