SOTD : Saturday 3th - Friday 9th August 2019

And so it is the end of the week, it's a Friday, I am off work until next Thursday and after some absence I felt it was time to return with an SOTD. So here I am with a shave in hand and this particular shave was themed 'And so it is the end of the week, it's a Friday, I am off work until next Thursday and after some absence I felt it was time to return with an SOTD'

The Friday razor - Ikon B1 SB in matt stainless finish on an OSS handle
The last day of the usual working week blade - Gillette Nacet
The day after Thursday brush - Cadman 30mm Tuxedo
The day before Saturday soap - Extro Arancia Italiana
The two days after Wednesday aftershave cream - L'Occitane Cade
The 'My wife only collected this from Boots this Friday for me' Cologne - Maurer & Wirtz 4711

I have been rather busy this past week with getting to grips to my new work location and so my SOTD's have been in general nil and void. In essence I have been either too lazy or too damn tired to write anything. Probably much to the delight of those of you who are willing to read through the piles of piffle I usually manage to torture you with.

This is not to say I haven't been shaving all week as it would be sacrilegious not to. In the main it was either the R41 on loan or the OneBlade on those days I couldn't be bothered with all the usual palaver. If you want a lazy razor the OB is a God.

So anyway, here I am and back with an SOTD to round off this weeks activities.

Despite having four Ikon SB's (all slightly different) this was a first outing for this particular facial hair cutting tool after a very happy purchase from
@chris.hale on the BST. Thank you Chris. I was intending to trial last week but lazybastardisis got the better of me. It was also a first with a Gillette Nacet and I am going to say these are cracking blades. Very suited to the aggressive Ikon SB. Of course you may also read this as 'very efficient' if you are from the non-violent sounding side of the story. Me, I'd be quite happy to call it 'fucking vicious'.

The more I use this Cadman brush, the more I appreciate its wonderful qualities and the more I am starting to understand brushes. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and it does it in a most spectacular fashion. I see another on the horizon in the near future, but perhaps a bit more 'customised'.

When you consider the scents in use here this shave was very much a citrus war. Especially as my pre-shower used Apothocary Oils lemon grass soap which is about as lemon you could get before you end up using an actual lemon, which I doubt would be of any use in terms of personal hygiene. Or am I wrong here? Together with the Arancia soap and the orange scented 4711 this was one very rewarding and invigorating experience.

The 4711 was a great purchase although I don't really consider it an EDC per se as it simply doesn't last long enough, but what it does achieve is to give a very fresh sparkle to the end of the evening. To be honest it is something I see more of a 'layer' in the world of scents and something I am going to explore. I have tried it with Penhaligon's Blenheim to a very nice affect and see it working with quite a few others. For what it cost a very welcome addition to the ever expanding cabinet and Mrs SF happens to like it for her own use and so an all round winner.

A great shave at the end of an easy going day and I am feeling as smooth as treacle and as sweet as a citrus cheese cake. Wonderful

Have a most wonderful weekend you people of the forum and may your shaves be heavenly.
