SOTD : Saturday 3rd. - Friday 9th November. 2018

Greetings All,

Monday shave

Four day's growth (reason below) and warm shave

Preparation – Showered then face washed with Dove Shower Gel

Soap: TOBS – Eton College Collection cream
Razor: Merkur 34C
Blade: Shark SS (1st)
Brush: RazoRock 400 (face lather)

Post Shave: Hot then cold water rinse, Molton Brown Recovery Balm, then Crabtree & Evelyn West Indian Lime AS

Three effortless passes today.

Last week, I had holidayed in Florida to soak up some sunshine (and I did)

As may of you would recall, I did a blade comparison, which I may start again as I still have many to try, sorry, I get side tracked. In number one position was Lord Rainbow which I found smooth and ease to use – ideal for a beginner. However, during my trip to Florida, I thought I would re-try this ‘awesome' personally highly rated blade and during my first shave, perfect (with the aid of D R Harris Windsor shaving cream). The second shave two days later left a lot to be desired – tugging and ineffective. I tried a second blade, but no joy. So the infamous Shark SS returns to the No. 1 position.

Also, I was forced to go shopping with the boss (as you do) and found a L'Occitane shop – and YES, it had the Cade Shaving soap and metal bowl (oh, also had to buy the balm). Then continued on to a mall and yes, found a second L'Occitane shop close to home (outlaws live in Florida – Marco Island for those in the know), so need to send the outlaws to buy a spare soap :)

Cheers,

Brian

Mon 5th Nov.

RazoRock Syn. 22mm
OSP Bay Rum
Alu.Hawk V1 & S/S Windrose Handle
Schick Proline
Bay Rum A/S Splash

I have not used the OSP for awhile, but it certainly produced abundant Lather. The Shave was most smooth and comfortable withf a great close finish, I tend to reach for this little Razor before the Alu General as it seems to give me slightly better Shaves.

Today's shave:

rdt181105.jpg

- L'Occitane Cade
- Semogue TSN 2018 LE Boar
- Game Changer .84 with Tibam handle and Feather blade
- Prince Classic aftershave

:)

Fourth use of this brush, and despite some scritch it already feels better than other boars do twenty or thirty shaves in. My tentative impression is that it is shaping up to become a classier version of the humble 1250.

SOTD Monday 05 November 2018 :)

Pre-shave: Warm shower, Wright's Cold Tar Soap followed by warm water splash and Proraso Pre-shave Cream (white)
Soap: Gentlemans Groom Room Essence of Scotland Sweet Gale Traditional Shaving Soap.
Brush: Simpsons The Duke 2 Pure Badger.
Bowl: Little Wren Pottery.
Razor: Karve "D" Plate.
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (Day 5).
Post shave: Myrsol Balsmic Water.

It's been a while since I have shaved with the Karve; no idea why - its a great razor. 2 days growth, which is unusual for me. 2 passes later and a DFS - no issues to report.

Hope all is good with everyone,

Chris

Sotd - Saturday - the third of November and today - the 5th of the month -

If swearing offends you - don't read this post. I've done my best to cover it up.

Saturday -

Razor - Mergress (1.5)
blade - Aussie Spoiler (16)
brush - Simpsons Chubby One best
soap - Squadron - Group Captain's Blend. Tallow.
post - witch hazel
a/s - Extro Tabacco
scent - Creed Tabarome parfum.

today -

Razor - Mergress (1.5)
blade - Aussie Spoiler (17)
brush - Yaqi - 24 high mountain white - the 'cloud on a stick.'
soap - Razorock Nomad - new formula - vegetarian
post - witch hazel
a/s - Razorock Nomad.

Result - in differing ways - excellent.

Saturday - easy enough - a relaxed morning shave - get picked up at two to go spend the night with my oldest friends just outside Perth - Scotland - not Western Australia. Time to bravely step up to the challenge of - a glut - of fine malt whiskies. Actually - I failed - stuck to red wine - felt all the better for it in the morning. I did - however - wake up in a guest room - with my head next to a tank of Amazonian - 'poison dart' frogs. I'm not joking - they were bright blue - the son of the house - apparently keeps them. Not a dynamic pet - they aren't going to fetch a stick for you. They lose their toxicity in captivity. Made me laugh - the frogs didn't react. They didn't do shit - not even blink - but - they did get me out of a plot hole recently in a made-up Sherlock Holmes story. Group Captain and Extro - ne plus ultra - tobacco wise for me at the moment.

Tonight - an excellent - but hard won shave - let me tell you about my day? So - long story short - the conclusion of a two or three week trial I have been working on - historic child abuse - what is out of the ordinary is - though - that you can legally connect it to one of the - two - main football teams in Scotland. Fair enough - the jury come back unhelpfully late. All hands to the pumps - need to get a lot of archive pictures legalled. Harsh day - conversations with idiots - Let's imagine a TV news channel - like Sky - for instance - or it might have been the BBC -

'Is that the right guy - in the picture?'

'No - I just photographed a complete stranger in the street - and branded him - a serial pedophile - for a laugh.' I thought but did not say out loud. 'Fu****g homoculus c**t.' - at this point channeling my inner Malcolm Tucker. 'Does your mum know that you aren't doing your homework? 'F**k off - fetus boy.'

So - harsh - let's look forward to a dram - put the day to bed - a nice evening shave? You would have thought so?

Go for a shave - the den light fails - not just the bulb - the whole thing nearly falls out the roof. F****ng c**t - I don't need this. So - first solution - shave by the light of a Petzl headtorch - I've done it before - but it doesn't work with a big mirror - you just blind yourself - as you check progress. Next option - shaving by candlelight. Sounds romantic? Yes - well. Actually a very good shave - I couldn't see shit properly - no glasses and a single candle. Tell you what - in my experience - it teaches you the value of of muscle memory - as close as any shave - but in the gloom. Know your face - it will be fine. The Nomad combo - helped just fine tonight. I'm less pissed off - the healing power of a good shave. Enjoy yours - all - I.

Fuc**** fuc** - fu** - 'that's an 'omni-shambles.'

Did anybody - that has got this far in this post - well done you - see the use of the same blade usage 16 & 17 referenced - no shit? It is all true - I'm not making this up.
