What a difference a Razor change makes! That was a very nice shave.
A great lather from the Big Yaqi and Proraso.
The WTG pass was as smooth as any i have had, i think the Feather ironed out that 1st pass roughness with the Polsilver. The next 2 passes were just as comfortable, i actually could have stopped with the XTG pass, however, i had the lather and could have done with some buffing, therefore, i completed a full ATG pass leaving me with a perfect BBS comfortable finish.
Nothing from the Block and a very nice post shave routine.
1 very happy shaver today. Feeling and smelling tip top.
Have a great Day All.

In keeping with my pledge for Decadent December, this morning I broke out the Eclipse Red Ring, originally manufactured in Sheffield, England, which is a mid-aggressive shaver with a very narrow sweet spot. I was happy with the shave, but because of joint issues, needed to use my Jones Shake Sharp to finish the back of the dome. Nevertheless, a wholly enjoyable DFS. I feel smooth, clean and ready for the snow today!

That Wolfman reminds me of a Gillette NEW Short Comb, with a touch of the New Improved! Other than the Wolfman, I am not sure there is another razor that holds the blade as securely as the Short Comb. Looks like a great shave setup.

After a great run(45min with the temp rising from 38 to low 40's) and 10 minutes in the gym's steam room, I jumped in the shower and tried a bar of great smelling soap. The lather was far too airy, but had a decent slickness to it. I wish I knew how to add slickness to the soap. The razor far outperformed the lather-thank goodness. No cuts, no weepers and a DFS with only one pass. I wasn't about to press my luck with the bar of soap. What a dilemma: scent or performance.

Rating: 4 / 5(the only reason it's a 4 is because I used bar soap)

Floid Vigoroso A/S Lotion

Decided that yesterday's Shave was so good that I would do a repeat with my Mongoose. Used a P & B soap too, but though the lather was a bit airy, I had no problems getting a good Shave with an excellent finish. I felt that compared to the little boar used yesterday the synthetic brush was rather scratchy when applying lather.

Prep: bath and face washed with simple soap.
Pre shave: Proraso white
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush: Omega 49 boar
Razor/Blade. Merkur 37C slant/ Astra green (4)
Post: Alum block and cold rinse
Aftershave: Proraso Green
Balm: Nivea sensitive

I received the MWF this morning and looked forward to trying it out. I‘d heard that some people couldn't get it to lather and so I bloomed it for a few minutes whilst I was bathing and decided to face lather. I found it no more difficult to lather than Proraso or Arko, but the lather was especially thick and silky smooth with excellent slickness even after rinsing. I live about 15 miles away from where Mitchell's is manufactured and so I wonder if our water is similarly soft, thereby suiting this soap.
Needless to say my 3 pass shave was very comfortable and close, with little stinging from the aftershave.

Yesterday's shave was late in the afternoon; not much to stubble to remove this morning; the thought did cross my mind that I should miss shaving today. However, I decided to see if some of the feedback from Silversmith reviews that this is a mild razor, ideal for a daily driver, worked out.

I also decided to shave with a cream that I could use without a brush, as time was short; the end result a most excellent shave, 2 face passes WTG and XTG, with a single pass, WTG pass on the neck. No issues to report and DFS+ finish.

Previously I have in the main used the Kiehl's White Eagle shave cream with a Gillette Blue 2 cart, when travelling, where I have hand luggage. Its good stuff - great lubrication and glide, although minimal cushion - as ever YMMV. It worked very well with the Silversmith, an exceptionally smooth shave. Its early days, but I feel the Gillette Silver Blue and the Silversmith were made for each other.

Final word goes to the Bio aroma; I picked this up in Crete - made with local beeswax and oils, it was recommended that I apply to a damp face - works well as a balm and moisturiser.

All the best,

Chris
