SOTD : Saturday 30th March - Friday 5th April. 2019.

Well another A'crat was on the agenda for this morning but I decided to make it a Merkur Monday instead. Today's choice the venerable 34G loaded with its perfect match, the Kai Super Stainless.

Soap of choice was purchased by Mrs. Somnos on a whim Col Conks Lime glycerin shaving soap. She was eyeballing the Amber also but as she had two tubes of Proraso Blue in the cart for me already she decided to forego it. The Old Spice mug is a new addition to the Den also that Mrs S found for a whopping $3! Love that Mrs S!

Proceeded to lather up with Col Conk lime and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the scent was. The APShave Co Silksmoke is a fantastic knot and whipped a very plentiful and slick lather. Three pass BBS shave was achieved. Grabbed the Elvado Wild Mint Lime balm to finish it off and added a shot of B&BW Citron to start the day. Happy Merkur Monday and happy shaves all!

Acquired this 1924 a couple of weeks ago. It's an earlier model with the longer pillar. It shaves beautifully, and is very nimble and efficient. Also accompanied by its fabulous audio feedback.
A great celebration to the 'Shovelhead'

The "1924" was actually introduced in 1919. It is called the 1924 because the 1924 big mail order catalogs of the time featured ads for this razor.

I know, I'm a picky SOB.

Boellis 1924 Panama ~ Semogue 610 ~ Gillette Guard ~ Alum

Couple of firsts... Boellis croap, nice almond scent (not too sweet) 4/10 strength. Performance very good, better than Cella? Not so sure on that. Also first go on a Gillette Guard, pivoting head means there is no angle to learn, it's a standard cart affair but only a single blade which provided me with an effortless BBS, preferable to a BIC? Maybe, the jury's still out on that one.

Got ABC almond croap to try next and valobra after that... Sniff tested them so far and the ABC has a stronger & sweeter almond scent akin to Cella whilst the Valobra is borderline unscented.

Monday evening

Valobra Tallow
RazoRock Disrupter 22mm
Face lather
Gillette Aluminium Tech (Made in England, 1968)
Feather
Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
Proraso M&E after shave

Continuing with the forgotten gems theme, I unpacked my first ever vintage DE. This forms part of my travel kit (along with grated Palmolive stick and Omega Mixed Midget).

Paired with the assertive Feather blade, it delivered a beautifully close and smooth shave; and the Valobra gave the necessary cushion and slick glide.

I really like this 6S. It just glides through my whiskers, mind you it is also the 1st shave with PF's superlather recipe with 8 drops of glycerine. If there is such a word as " Razorglide" I have just had it. Lather was silky smooth and a great foundation for the shave. I need to use a bit less soap as it exploded tonight and a lot went down the sink.
2 Silky passes for BBS shave.
I do believe I am getting there.

Pre: Pears transparent Pure & Gentle
Brush: Semogue 620
Soap: Superlather OSP Spice road/macca root mix
Blade: Astra SP (3)
Razor: Rockwell 6S R3
Post shave: cold water splash, homemade Witch Hazel lavender/grapefruit/lime/patchouli astringent,
Balm: E45
Aftershave: CK1

Monday 1st April

Pears Glycerine Soap
Lea Shave Stick
Omega 10108 Boar Brush
Wilkinson Sword TTO with an Astra SP
Simple Facial Toner
Arko Grapefruit and Fig Moisturiser
Gotas Frescas Agua de Colonia Concentrada

A late shave this evening. I had absolutely no time this morning and by mid afternoon the stubble was beginning to drive me crazy. The shave was mild ....but very efficient. 3 passes for a lovely finish....and I am actually beginning to enjoy cold water shaves!
