SOTD: Saturday 29th June - Friday 5th July 2019.

05/07/19
Pre shave prep: Pears Lemon Flower Transparent
Brush: Yaqi Rainbow 26mm
Soap: Stirling Lime
Razor: Mongoose SS-B3
Blade: Kai Captain (10)
Post shave: Alum Block, cold water splash, homemade Witch Hazel with added Lemon and Lime oil
Balm: Barts Lime Balm & Lotion
A/S: Old Spice Pure Sport

Well todays shave was different, a shave of 2 halves you might say, a pre shave shower & a fantastic lather mixed up with the Stirling, just love that Lime scent, a great face covering with the Yaqi "big Lad"
So onto the shave - towards the end of the 1st WTG pass I thought the blade was going off? Is it just my subconscious? Anyway I carried on with the XTG pass, it seemed I was hitting rough patches, by the ATG pass i was sure the blade was done, that happened quickly! i thought it could just be me, however, the Alum block told me in no uncertain terms that it surely was done. Not a lot of indication but more than i have had for a while.
Thanks Captain but its the blade bin for you my friend. 10 shaves from 1 blade, I'm happy with that.
A great citrus post shave treatment with the Barts balm (face paramedic) and a splash of Old spice sport. what's not to like?
So the Mongoose has been cleaned up and will be rested for a little while, i need to give the DE's some chin time.
Have a great day All

@RussellR5555, i read your SOTD with your Mongoose - don't be too hasty with the size and weight of the Mongoose, i was lucky and started off with a lightweight Hawk, then the Vector, both nimble compared to the Mongoose, the size of it when i first used it nearly put me off. As soon as your technique clicks the shave you get from the AC-SE razors is brilliant. I really hope you persevere and conquer it - Good luck mate.

I had a very pleasant two pass shave this afternoon. The Hawk is a fantastic, inexpensive AC blade razor, safe and reasonably smooth. Wickham Soap Co. Cashmere is a fabulous soap with a gentle aroma.

Pre-Shave: Kiss my Face Olive Oil Soap, cold water
Razor: Razorock Baby Smooth Ti
Blade: Voskhod (1)
Brush: Maseto 2-band Finest
Lather: Mystic Water Jeff's Lavender
Post-Shave: Alum, Thayers Original Alcohol Free Witch Hazel, South Australian Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

I do like what I understand to be your wife's' art work. The more I see the more I like

Razor: Oneblade Core
Blade: FHS-10 (3)
Brush: dscosmetics 26mm Silvertip
Soap: Tabac
Pre: Floïd Oil
ASB&L: Floïd

3 days growth to take down. The most I've challenged the Oneblade with.

Another BBS finish with minimal feedback from the aftershave. This razor does exactly what it says on the tin now I'm used to it. Whilst it lacks soul, I'd have no hesitation recommending this to someone who wants to leave carts but shave in a not too dissimilar fashion (autopilot).

I'll be keeping this razor but will return to my DEs for my next shave.

Thanks Tony appreciate the advice.

I got a good shave with it for a first outing and will use it again today , I bought it as a head only so just trying to figure out a handle for it , so will try on a heavy handle today. Most of the razors I like and use regularly are light at the head, so the Mongoose is different for me.

I need to find a handle that suits it as most of what I have are not right for it.
