SOTD : Saturday 27th June - Friday 03th July 2020

Now come on please ladies. Let's have a little bit better organisation to get this shave themed 'DE trumps the SE Zen party' on the road
Ahhh, much better, perfect girls, perfect. See you at the end of this shaving report in the video.

IMG_20200701_220101.jpg

Phew. And I really thought this SOTD was going to be scuppered from the offset.

SE party pooper - Ikon B1 with chrome cap
Boooooo. It's a DE blade - Kai
Not a Dandelion? - Cadman 30mm Tuxedo
Soap in a tube? - Blenheim Bouquet cream

Why be at one when you can be at two?

My recent quest for everything with only one edge has seen the few remaining DE's sitting neglected in the shaving cabinet. Shame on you Chris, shame on you. So for a change I thought I'd give the Ikon SB a chance to prove its worth. Feed it a Kai (Not to be mistaken with Kale which is a disgusting rank edible leaf) and away we go.

Public health warning. Do not attempt to eat Kai blades. Thank you.......or Kale

Sometimes a little nudge with an elbow is needed to think outside your own little bubble. How lovely to have the Ikon in my hand once again and how wonderful it delivers. I didn't rate it as the best DE I've ever owned because it isn't. I rated it because it is. I also forgot how damn good these Kai blades are. Sharp sharp and sharp and I love it that they say naff all on them. No 'Super perma sharp stainless steel' or anything else and not even the name Kai. Nothing. Let the blade do the talking. And it did.

'By the hairs on your chinny chin chin I shall slice and cut until there are no more hairs on your chinny chin chin'

And it did

A great double act and I am really glad I revisited neglected grounds. With the Penhaligon's providing the soapy show and the Cadman providing the soapy show application; one super close and smooth shave was had. Finish with a rub of Mrs Satanfriendly's Spanish Fig and Nutmeg moisturiser and a wonderful closing touch to this equally wonderful sink event.

On a finishing point I asked Mrs SF if she could buy me an axe for cutting through roots etc with the garden project. I never quite expected an absolute beautiful beast of a felling axe

'you prefer a single edge? You got it love'

'Now come on girls line up, line up let's get this video sorted and then we can all go home and leave this dreadful piece of writing behind'

Oh my oh my. I'm gone

Nice lather from soap. Nice orangy scent, thick, creamy and reasonably slick. Very nice painting it with the brush.
Shave with razor paired with blade was excellent! So smooth yet sharpish. Can feel some blade. No tugs nor skips. Quite comfortable 3+1 multiple passes with no issues. Between BBS to DFS. Rating 9.5/10

RR Syn. 22mm
Lea Classic Soap
Occams -Enoch
Kai CT Mild-Pink [ 4 ]
Lea Classic A/S Lotion

Just completed another shave with The Enoch, and it is again extremely smooth and comfortable with a great finish. This is proving to be a very good comparatively inexpensive AC/SE, I do expect it may become a rarity rather like the Mongoose from the same stable.

Following some technical support from @Satanfriendly the blade is now aligned correctly in the General and the shave was super smooth. A really nice and close 2 passes. I thoroughly enjoyed this shave and I smell great.

Also pleased to report that I had no irritation issue with this Stirling soap either so both Piacenza and MITA seem fine for me.

Really happy to hear problem solved. Like I said before not the best of design when accidental misalignment can occur, but as long as you are aware it is something to check.

You did have me worried when you mentioned 'tugging'. Something I more associate with the activities of my little boat and being a seaman.

Thursday

Cella
RazoRock Disrupter 22mm synth
Face lather
Ever Ready 1912 ‘Bathroom Set'
Gem SS PTFE
Thayer's Lavender and Aloe Vera
Fine Platinum after shave

I can't remember the last time I used the Cella; but it really did the business today. Paired very well with this outstanding member of the 1912 dynasty.

Keep staying safe and well.

Totally blown away by this Monsavon soap. Had read it wasn't a great lather builder so best to overload which I did but it was completely unnecessary, I ended up with enough for 6 passes! Superb quality lather, perhaps slightly lacking in protection for some but very slick. The scent is classic old school, camphorous lavender... I have a vintage bottle of Yardley English lavender here and the scent is very similar except the Monsavon has an added powdery/creamy note. I highly recommend this for the couple of £ it costs.

Also discovered the Henso DE is older than I first thought, it appears in Henckels 1940 brochure:

henckels-prospekt-6.jpg

The head design strongly reminds me of the Fatip Testina Gentile, might have to buy one to compare...
