The infamous fatboy pass around landed with me and the razor didn't disappoint. Started off on setting 8 for my first pass, knocked down to 4 for the 2nd pass and finally setting one for the final pass and touch ups. Hard to believe this razor is 60 odd years old!

Has a lovely weight to it and outperformed my expectations. I didnt want to own a vintage razor but I can see myself wanting one in the future.
While using it I was thinking I wonder how many hands this has been in and how many shaves it has completed. Amazing.

I'll try different blades in it while I have the razor and hope get to enjoy the shaves as much as I did this one. A happy shaver tonight and my new battle with the Merkur progress will just have to wait for another while!

Have a good weekend one and all.

Alpha Outlaw V2 Titan Synthetic
Carbon Shaving Co Cx-Titan
Super Shave X Platinum blade
Signature Soaps Vectis

Have had shaves with four of @BrianH soaps and must say, that the performance is consistent between the range.
The soaps perferm very well indeed. And the scents I have tried are nice too.
My ususal soap is MdC and Signature Soaps performs at least on par with MdC - really impressive!

Thanks Mark, so glad you're enjoying them. Love the photography.

SOTD 31st July

Lather - P&B Sanskrit + Yaqi Sagrada Familia
Razor - Gillette Tech
Blade- Shark SS #3
Post - Mennen Skin Bracer + L'Oréal Hydra Sensitive Birch Sap

Really smooth shave today, very welcome too.
Great lather and the Tech went about it's 3 pass business with surprising (to me) efficiency and super, super smooth. The Gillette Super Speed is milder for me - perhaps its my technique? Great Post shave to set me up for night shift on work. The blade felt sharp and smooth and I do seem to get on with it, so I'm thinking this is a keeper.
Stay safe people and a great weekend to all.

Last shave of the month!
31 July 2020 – late night cold water shave first time ever …. it was the hottest day this year - 34C.
Good and refreshing shave I must say. One nick due to carelessness otherwise all smooth.

The thematic shave called 'To all those Japanese girly bands'

Baby Metal - Razorock stainless Hawk V3
Shonen knife - Feather Super Professional
Otoboke beaver brush- Cadman 30mm Tuxedo
Disqualia - Alvarez Gomez croap. And just for @Digimonkey

Disqualia.jpg

This shave was all about trying to make sense of the new Razorock Hawk V3. Previous outings with this new toy had me a little deflated but I couldn't stop thinking there was better hiding away. It was just too mild and just not smooth. A change of blade was on the menu and so enter the Feather Super Professional.

Now this is more what I was expecting. Everything just fell in to place and what initially had me exasperated was now exhilarating. Smooth, efficient and effective.

I was saddened when I heard Alvarez were no longing producing their shaving cream and this evening proved how much it will be missed. Get your lathering right and this stuff is just so beautiful rewarding. A quick Google and another jar on its way before it becomes rocking horse shit. Phew. Another few years of happiness before the misery sets in again.

A happy shave with happy results and nice to discover a new friend and reacquaint an old friend in the shaving cabinet.

Right. Off to meet a few old friends who want to get to know me better. Spiffing

So why Japanese girly bands? Because I like them. Is that sufficient?

Anyway to give you a WTF? moment I sign off with the bizarre 'Lady Baby'. A cross dressing Australian wrestler and two JPop girls? It could only be Japan.

Have a great weekend all who have managed to get this far

Friday 31st July

Fuar ach snog preshave
Muhle R106
TOBS Tobacco Leaf (love it)
Yaqi tuxedo brush
Personna platinum blade
Myrsol Emulsion balm

A decent shave, but it seems WTG passes leave enough hair behind that I don't even looked like I've shaved. Across the grain required at a minimum to look like I've done anything.

I enjoyed that!
Using about a hazelnut size piece of the GFCC cream i whipped up a Lather in the Captain choice copper bowl with the Alpha Ti that could have kept a barber shop in shaves for an hour at least, it was jumping out of the bowl. The scent is very light but the lather punches well above its price range.
2 full passes with the Feather/Kai Pink combo, WTG & XTG trying some different angles/ hand holds to use with the Str8's, i am more confident with this little razor than a Str8 at the moment, resulting in a DFS finish.
The main change being i always go from ear to nose XTG, today i tried nose to ear as i was a bit wary using the Str8 going towards the nose, it seemed to work well so will try that on the next training shave. i am also more confident using my left hand with this razor.
The little ECO did a fantastic job picking up anything i missed on a buffing pass.
A nice post shave routine carrying on the Lime citrus scent, a little bit of a sting from the A/S splash which did not last long.
I am happy, smooth, feeling and smelling good.
Stay safe and Enjoy your day All.

That is one gorgeous looking brush. I've had my eye on that brush a few times, haven't pulled the trigger yet.
I was wondering how the knot in it, compares to a Tuxedo knot?
