'I love my Docs' or so their bags have printed on them, and I do. I also happen to love my SE's but I have never seen a bag yet which states this fact. How life can let you down in many ways.
A third outing with the Hawk and once again a different choice of handle being as the supplied item is so useless and as far as I am concerned just a cheap passing thought. Which is a shame as the head is so well made and a quality item. Also a third time out for the same blade.
On the end of the long brass handle there is a certain balance coming in to play. My previous choice of handle was an improvement but in hind sight added too much weight at the wrong end. This pairing is much more harmonious (synergy
) and the improvement in control very evident.
In comparison to the Colonial it is definitely less aggressive but in no way does it make a lesser tool. In many ways it is the equal with the General obtaining that little bit more of a closer finish and a bit more efficiency about it. It would be splitting (or removing) hairs between the two.
For a third time around the blade didn't feel any different from when it slid out of its holder. By now I find most DE blades are starting to die a death. I think I am starting to understand why SE's are so loved.
The brush I still fail to understand
I approached my lathering from a different angle and it actually made a really nice job from the OSP. Where it did fail badly was in application from the bowl to face. It just didn't gel with me and I found it a pain in the ass to lather my face to the same extent as my usual synthetic.
I think I will wave the white flag at natural brushes and stick with what I know. I just wish they made synthetics in the same beautiful manner as many of the natural brushes.
The OSP as good as I reported a few days back and the scent weaves its magic more with every use. Gorgeous stuff
The Cade after shave balm remains a very impressive product. Perfection for my skin.
I very rarely use the Mont Bland Legend but every time I do I always appreciate it's wonderful scent. I would place it under many of the mass produced generic scents we see these days but it has a lovely sweet edge to the base notes which adds to its appeal. I remember it cost £15 some years back from TJ Hughes and I class it as a genuine bargain.
A great shave this evening and there is a lovely glow to my skin. Buffed to perfection and the Hawk is proving its worth.
The Dr Martens just add to the end of my evening for a wander out to the pub. Not everyone's choice of footwear but they are me as Mrs Satanfriendly says. What a lady and one who knows more about my feet more than she does anything else about me. Thank God otherwise I'd never get any of these shaving supplies over the doorstep.
'Love my Docs'? I most certainly do
