Yaqi 24mm 2BB - Le Pt'i Meusien - Yaqi Katana/Centwin - Guerlain Vetiver

A tale of 2 razors today. I had decided to use a newly acquired vintage razor for the first time. 2 strokes resulted in blood letting so the Katana was parachuted in to rescue the situation.
3 passes for a BBS finish and alum sorted out the damage.

Penhaligon's Lords aftershave (vintage)

For some reason the blade did not feel like it was cutting on the first pass, and there was virtually no auditory feedback. I took the razor apart and checked the blade, thinking I might have had two blades together (which I did by mistake once long ago), but it was normal. The soap lather was wonderful, but it shouldn't cause this effect. Oh well. I went on shaving, with the same sensation, and ended up with my usual BBS shave. Strange.

Today -

Prep - facial wash
razor - Katana
blade - Med Prep (6)
brush - Chubby 1 best
soap - A&E St Barts
post - witch hazel
a/s - A&E St Barts
balm - none
scent - A&E St Barts edp.

All good - my favourite shaving software antidote to a dark, cold, stormy and pishy day in Glasgow. A whiff of the Caribbean - not that I have actually been there - my mate got sent on a press trip to Barbados - they were corralled and it turned into - what was effectively a luxury prison camp - he slipped the leash on Saturday night - wanting to hear some of the local sounds - with the locals. No problem finding it - just listen for the deafening sound of dance-hall - the walls of the building visibly shaking under the assault of the sound system. He had a whale of a time - they took him as one of their own - his money was no good all night - the only white guy there - I say white - he's from Dumbarton - so that is actually a shade of pale blue - sweating heavily in the humidity. He's never been that popular - before or since - with the ladies - he did admit that he was a bit terrified - anyone of them - could have crushed him between their capacious bosom. He made it back to the resort - minutes before the jittery pr woman phoned the cops to go find him. So - back to the shave - I really like A&E St Barts - the tallow soap base is superb - the scent takes you elsewhere - an azure sky - emerald water gently lapping on a white coral sand beach - perhaps - the smell of fish cooking on an open grill? - huge drinks - that are mostly made out of rum - and turn up in hollowed out fruit. The dull thud of Keith Richards falling out of a palm tree - yes - that did actually happen. You would have thought if you were Keith's people - you would have done a thorough risk analysis? Apparently not. A man - who is - unless lying flat on his back - going to present a very real danger to himself - especially on holiday. Nobody ever explained though - what was he doing up the tree in the first place - how did he get there? Life is full of imponderables. So - Glasgow - shit - still in Glasgow. Enjoy your shaves - one and all - I.
