Like many when using an Aluminium AC/SE I have discarded the stock handles, in favour of S/S which IMHO provide better balance and help in avoiding the use of pressure on the head during the Shave. Today I have reached the conclusion that the this Razor actually delivers me a better Shave than the General. Perhaps its greater aggression is better suited to dealing with my beard. I think that the Shave was enhanced by my use of the Faena soaps rich creamy lather - must use it more.

Luxurious Sunday shave. Two passes of the smooth Progress with plenty of rich lather supplied by the large Maseto badger. So good.

PreShave: Warm water
Cream: TOBS Platinum Collection
Brush: Kent BK8
Bowl: My recycled cream bowl
Razor: The Sledgehammer (Merkur 39C)
Blade Astra Platinum (1)
Post Shave: Alum

Fragrance: Floris 71/72 e d p

A new Astra blade, and a good shave. Now for my conundrum: The Astra will last for 4 shaves, the Feather lasted for 8. Assuming I'm getting an equally as good a shave with the Astras, given that the Feathers are more than twice the price of the Astras—are they worth it? Ostensibly, I'm shaving with DE blades to save money, but ... . Points to ponder, I suppose.

Noble Otter The Trail ~ RR400 "Noir" ~ Mulcuto No.1 ~ Personna Lab Blue ~ Pinaud Clubman

First try with a NO soap... Nice presentation, soap is standard 2018 artisan fare so firm but not hard, scent is interesting - The pine tar is very forward, reminded me of Wrights coal tar soap a few times but I also picked out the fir, juniper and oakmoss easily enough... Smells like damp undergrowth so mission accomplished going by the name. I recall Rob saying he found it sweeter than expected? I pick up no sweetness from mine so I don't know if there is some variation between batches, apologies if I've remembered incorrectly. Performance is about on par with the B&M Glissant I've been using all week, perhaps a smidge inferior but as it's my first use it could very well be that I haven't quite dialed it in yet, one area I did prefer it was post-shave cleanup, it rinses cleanly whereas B&M leaves a soap scum on everything.

Another first, Pinaud Clubman. Didn't know what to expect other than "old man" seemingly loved by many and hated by an equal number. I found it completely inoffensive, a sweet, powdery talc scent... As usual, a load of online fuss over nothing.

Yes I found it 'sweet' but maybe not the best description. The scent wasn't for me but I do rate the soap base.

Rex Ambassador
Polsilver
Zenith Manchurian
Martin de Candre Fougère
Pitralon Classic aftershave

Decided to lower the setting on the Rex from my usual 3 to 2.5. Had a very comfortable and efficient shave. Happy days.

Loaded the Zenith heavily and rewarded with an excellent lather. Still not sure whether I'll be keeping the Zenith though.

Have a good week Gents.
Cheers

Thanks go out to @Barry Giddens for safely returning my R2 and gifting me this wonderful smelling soap. Cheers mate.
Performance wise it's pretty good, decent cushion and slickness. The post shave isn't all that but there are balms for that.
All in all not a bad soap imo but not a great one either.
Happy Shaving one and all.
