Simpson Chubby 1 /Maggard 2 band
Williams Mug Soap
PAL S/S Adjustable
Schick S/S - Japan [ 3 ]
Williams Aqua Velva A/S Lotion

The PAL has for a long time been one of my special occasion Razors i.e. one to use when wanting a Top Notch Finish without problems. Today I was reminded of this as I had a most smooth comfortable Shave, with a really close all round finish. The PAL has been joined in this category by a couple of AC/SE Razors that I now use.
I found that the little composite Brush was ideal for coaxing a great lather from the Williams stored in a Ramekin dish, I do find it rather on the small side when used in other containers.

Soap - Vitos Green
Brush - Omega 80265
Razor - Yaqi Cobbed
Blade - Lord Classic SS
Post - Witch Hazel/Nivea Replenishing Balm
AS - Old Spice

The razor is a fair chunk more aggressive than I am normally accustomed to and I could feel my face could only take 2 passes, opposed to the 3 passes I normally do with a much milder razor. I can't see myself really taking to the razor, it could be one I shift sooner rather than later.

Almost the same shave as yesterday, with a similar outcome, a flawless and smooth, close shave. The Ikon OSS razor with the B1 coating and a steel bamboo handle had arrived yesterday. I loaded it with the Nacet blade from yesterday's SOTD and I was very curious as to how it would perform. It is a close relation of my Deluxe DLC, used yesterday, and allegedly a close copy of the Feather AS-D1, used the day before. It gave a very pleasant, close, smooth shave similar to both of the other razors. It has a mild feeling very much like the Feather, and the open comb side feels only slightly different to the safety bar side. The B1 coating on the OSS is very glossy, the DLC coating on the Deluxe is less so. All of my Ikon handles are great and the bamboo is no exception. The OSS probably will be even better when loaded with a Feather blade. These three razors all shave me well, with comfort, and without fear. The Deluxe may be marginally more aggressive, but there is not much in it. They all shave me closer than the MÜHLE R89/ Jagger DE89, so I'm happy.

Forward on the trail of Aristocrats we go and today comes courtesy of a fine No. 66 set. This particular razor is of a 1955-57 vintage, has a patent number on the tray and “II” stamped on the underside.

Today's soap/cream of choice was beloved Proraso Green along with the pre-shave lotion and matching AS. Love the scent and that cool menthol feel of the lot.

Proceeded to load up a Gillette Silver Blue and to town I went on a three pass BBS shave. Been quite lucky lately with the BBS shaves which I am attributing to the weight of the last few razors I have cycled through. Effortless really with this razor.

Happy hump day and shaves to all!

Moss Anniversary Slate scuttle
Rooney 1/1 Ivory Finest (22/45)
Roger & Gallet l'Homme shaving soap (vintage)
Raw Shaving RS-10/UFO Colibri
Polsilver Super Iridium (7)
Roger & Gallet l'Homme aftershave (vintage)

I used the more aggressive RS-10 plate this time, and I found that with the SI blade it is equal in efficiency to my Wolfman standard gap razors and more effective than - but not quite as smooth as - the Paradigm II Titanium. All of that is influenced by the lather, and it of course is quite subjective anyway; I'm just happy to have such great razors with which to play.

Wednesday evening

OSP Barbershop
RazoRock Plissoft 24mm synth
Face lather
Gillette Fat Handle Tech (Pre-war)
Astra SP #2
Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
Floïd Mentally Vigorous

I've started revisiting some of the gems that have been eclipsed by the ERs, Gems and Schicks, PALs etc. Tonight was the Fat Handle Tech; triangular slots.

A great shave; no doubt aided and abetted by outstanding soap. 3 passes for a close, smooth finish, with no touch-ups needed.

A splash of the Mentally Vigorous to finish off with. One smooth and very cool face...

Razor: The Sledgehammer (Merkur 39C)
Blade Astra Platinum (5)

The first time I've used D R Harris' Almond—I've used their Arlington. The Almond is a great soap with a subtle scent. It was a nice way to start the morning.
